#CD7 @psyc220 One of my big goals in the future is to become a forensic psychologist. I think in this type of field it relies heavily on scientific literature. Reinforcing statistics to fit w/ an individual can cycle into oppression.... (1)
@jdvick23 @psyc220 I like how you touched on the topic of out of home placements for kids as it is not talked enough!. I agree with Peyton & read something similar in our chapter reading about systems reinforcing classism. I think advocating for the family first is important!. #CD7 @psyc220
@davitch_peyton @psyc220 #CD7 @psyc220 I completely agree with you on this topic with male children having the space to go through there emotions. I have seen it in my family of the shameful guilt of being emotional and it should never be that way.
#CD7 @psyc220 (2) a way to fix is to look outside of statistics and base in on background and experience getting to know a person's story instead of stereotypes that were created socially.
@BayleeHowell06 @psyc220 #CD6 I like how you discussed abt mental health being apart of oppression while I didn't know it was one. I agree with you that It can cause different experiences for different genders. I thought abt how the ways they can get treated can def cause stereotypes. Nice job!
@rachnapatelll @psyc220 #CD6 I definitely agree with you and I can attest that this has happened to some of my family members. I do appreciate that you made awareness to this issue. This issue got a lot of media attention but there was no real way to combat this issue.
#CD6 @psyc220 A form of oppression that the book didn't discuss was institutionalized oppression that can be intersected w/ race/ethnicity/color. Some institutions have the ability not promote or hire individuals that don't fit their 'criteria'. Which can correlate w/race.
#220Ethics @psyc220 This statement represents ethics of autonomy because he is standing in solidarity for their protest for equal rights for women in Iran.
On this International Day of the Girl, we stand in solidarity with the courageous Iranian women and girls who have inspired the world through their ongoing protests.
#CD5a @psyc220 I believe that universities and larger communities tend to facilitate 'inspirational porn' by trying to over glamorize the 'awh' moment for the disabled community. Like the photo title objectifying the couple, it plays the role 'inspirational porn'.
#CD5b @psyc220 Universities create barriers for people with disabilities by having technological barriers. Universities are moving towards a more modern approach of online use. Ex: having exams online, assignments online & zoom classes. All can be hard to access.
@benne4al @psyc220 #CD5b I liked how you explained what this photo means. I agree w/ you that this photo represents inspiration porn. Digging into the quote more makes me frustrated that depictions like these are what motivates society but in reality it should cause discomfort bc we are all equal.
