I’m going to pin this tweet for all the serious UN folks following me. I love it. Trust me, I love it. It feeds well into my need for validation. Problem is, I don’t always tweet UN. I mostly rant about Nigeria and how it is showing me shege. Ask me what shege means 😀
Honored to have served as a teller during today’s UNSC elections.
Warm congratulations to the newly elected members: 🇦🇹 🇿🇼 🇹🇹 🇵🇹 🇰🇬
Djibouti looks forward to continuing to work closely with them.
@AmbDoualeh
Sierra Leone congratulates 🇦🇹 Austria, 🇰🇬 Kyrgyzstan, 🇵🇹 Portugal, 🇹🇹 Trinidad and Tobago, and 🇿🇼 Zimbabwe on their election as non-permanent members of the United Nations Security Council for the 2027–2028 term.
Having concluded our own historic 2024–2025 tenure on the Security Council at the end of December 2025, Sierra Leone fully appreciates the immense responsibility and privilege that come with serving on this principal organ of the United Nations.
We wish the incoming members every success in advancing the cause of international peace and security, multilateral cooperation, and the purposes and principles of the UN Charter.
Germany has failed to win a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council.
Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul (CDU) secured 104 votes in the General Assembly, falling 23 short of the required two-thirds majority. It is the first time Germany has missed out on a rotating seat.
Germany's bid for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council ends in crushing failure
After Germany's reactions to events in Gaza, Venezuela, Lebanon and Iran, no one could believe that "its utmost priority will be respect for the rules of international law", if elected
I expected a UNSC election runoff between Austria/Germany, but what we are getting is an even more fascinating UNSC election runoff between Kyrgyzstan and the Philippines...
Never a dull day @UN
I spoke to @pass_blue | @RealBanjo about @ColombiaONU's June Presidency of the Security Council:
"Colombia’s decision to focus its signature event on the Middle East shows a state that is confident in its reading of world affairs."

As I underlined in my recent address to the LA World Affairs Council, the UN must to a better job of telling its story to the world. The next UNSYG must think hard & holistically about how to restore the UN's relevancy & image on matters of war & peace. @UN@pass_blue
N20,000 in 1980 = $36,363
N20,000 in 2026 = $14.76
$36,363 in 2026 = N49,271,865
You can’t even build a decent bungalow in same part of Lagos with that.
Y’all are dishonest.
i’ve spent the past 7 months attempting to reconstruct and understand the strategy with which the boko haram army was formed. i’ve gone over more than 100 archival materials, spoken to a few first-generation members of the terror group, and victims. it’ll be out on wednesday!
"China does not have to do much to gain more influence around the UN when the US is pulling back. Beijing gains credibility and influence by default."
Me to @pass_blue.

To clarify, Iran nuclear programme went onto #UNSC "agenda" in 2006 & all 7 resolutions adopted 2006-2015 were put to a vote & adopted unanimously, not by consensus.
Only other Iran drafts put to a vote thereafter - 1 in 2020 & 2 in 2025 - all related to triggering Snapback.
