My opinion on Mallam Nasiru El-Rufai as Minister of Power:

If we recall, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai was nominated to serve in President Tinubu’s administration, and it was widely reported that he was being considered for the Ministry of Power.

That got me thinking: what would have happened if he were the Minister of Power today? Here are a few things I believe he would have done differently to improve Nigeria’s electricity sector:

- Reviewing and restructuring the entire power privatization process.

- Replacing outdated and inefficient power system equipment.

- Rehabilitating and improving the generation sector, including dams and gas-powered plants.

- Expanding the national transmission network lines.
Upgrading and modernizing the distribution network.

- Reducing bureaucratic bottlenecks slowing down power projects.

- Improving accountability and performance monitoring across GENCOs, DISCOs, and TCN.

- Encouraging more investment in renewable energy, especially solar power.

- Tackling electricity theft, vandalism, and illegal connections more aggressively.

- Accelerating rural electrification projects for underserved communities.

- Promoting local manufacturing of electrical components and infrastructure.

- Introducing stricter service delivery standards for distribution companies.

- Improving metering nationwide to reduce estimated billing.

- Strengthening policy coordination between the federal government and private operators.

- Prioritizing stable power supply for industries and small businesses to boost economic growth.

These might not be achieved overnight, because the cabals in power sector are stronger than you can imagine. But with someone like Mallam on board he’s most likely going to get things done.

Whether one agrees with his politics and policies or not, many people believe El-Rufai would have approached the power sector with aggressive reforms and a results driven strategy.

Tinubu is almost closed to ending northern people.

When northern scholars went to him about insecurity and the condition of the North, he told them he had spent his own money to win the election, and that he would now do whatever he thought was best.

Take Malam Nasir El-Rufai. About 60% of the APC’s success in 2023 was due to his effort and determination. Yet Tinubu sidelined that contribution, destroyed the structure El-Rufai built for him, and used every tactic until he had him cornered. They wanted him silenced, stead his voice becomes more louder.

Look at Ganduje and Yahaya Bello. They were two of the four governors who sued Buhari over the naira redesign after Tinubu won the primary election. Ganduje himself once said Buhari was impressed by Tinubu, but Tinubu later used him and discarded him. If Yahaya Bello had not secured the seat of a governor to his loyalist he would likely be in prison now.

Then there is Abubakar Malami. He received the same treatment. Buhari’s ministers were turned into traps for anyone who tried to leave the APC, and plans were made to hand him over to the EFCC.

Consider Badaru. Once he felt the pressure, he resigned from the position of Minister of Defence that had been given to him. The same happened to Hakeem Baba-Ahmed and other prominent northerners who resigned.

Now the focus has shifted to Malam Nuhu Ribadu. He has being the weapon used against northern leaders. He is the highest-ranking northerner left in Tinubu’s government. After being sidelined and treated like a figurehead, he is now being turned into a rival.

Step by step, he is removing northern leaders and buying over our governors, senators, and members of parliament. If we fail to take him out if office, by 2027 there will be nothing left for the people. Northerners need to open their eyes. If they allow this to continue, what they will face in 2027 will be far worse than what is happening now.

Everything El-Rufai warned about is coming true, and now we see it clearly.

May God bring an end to this government’s leadership.

I opened twitter today to see news saying Ribadu said he confirmed Mallam Nasir El-Rufai tapped his phone, said the things he said are true.

If this true then I genuinely think that every Nigerian should be worried at the sheer incompetence and criminality behind the scene that Mallam Nasir El-Rufai exposed.

So it is true that the government is illegally listening to our phone calls?

Plateau Mob Kills Own Youths Over Murder of Traditional Ruler in Plateau

Three plateau state’s indigenes suspected to be involved in the killing of a traditional ruler in Langtang North Local Government Area of Plateau State were on Friday set ablaze by an angry mob.

The victims were alleged to have participated in the killing of the traditional ruler of Kwallak community, Mr Ponzhi Kwallak, who was attacked and murdered at his residence on Thursday night.

Sources in the community said that the assailants stormed the monarch’s home, shot him, and made away with his motorcycle and mobile phone.

The incident, which initially sparked tension and speculation within the community, was reportedly first attributed to external attackers (fulani bandits). However, subsequent developments indicated that the suspects were allegedly from within the community.

Security sources said the suspects were apprehended on Friday while attempting to sell the stolen motorcycle.

According to eyewitness accounts, the suspects allegedly confessed to the crime after being apprehended by members of the community.

It was further gathered that the suspects were being taken to security operatives when a mob intercepted them near the Langtang North Local Government Council Secretariat and set them ablaze.

The late monarch had recently received the motorcycle, which was later traced to the suspects.

Let the courts uphold the rule of law by granting him bail and ensuring he receives a fair trial. Bail is a constitutional right not a tool for punishment or intimidation.
