Dory Funk Jr. was a legend in many ways as a wrestler, a coach, and an incredible human being. I vividly remember the first time I had the privilege of meeting him at the “Dory Funkin Dojo” during a WWE tryout and training camp aimed at preparing young wrestlers for future performances on TV.

Dory taught me the basics of pro wrestling, and there was no one better than him. He quickly took a liking to me and decided to be my coach and manager for my very first matches. His genius in our sport was unmatched, and his unique style and vast knowledge set him apart from others.

Being “old school” was something I loved about him, but he also knew how to adapt to the evolving landscape of wrestling. Dory prepared me for my first matches in just five days, keeping things simple and basic so I could understand my movements in the ring.

There will never be another like him. You will be sorely missed, Dory. Rest in peace, my friend.

30 Years Ago Today🏅

It’s hard to believe that it’s been three decades since I stood on that podium, proudly winning the Gold Medal against Abbas Jadidi. Coming from humble I grew up a laborer’s son from Dormont Pittsburgh, I never imagined my dreams would ever come true.

This journey has taught me that discipline beats excuses every time. All you need is a dream, and anything is possible. I didn’t just represent my hometown and my college, I proudly wore the colors of the United States of America on my heart, driven by blood, sweat, tears, and even a broken neck.

Looking back, if I had the chance to do it all over again, my answer would always be a resounding LET’S GO!

Here’s to every athlete dreaming big....never give up, keep pushing, and make your dreams a reality! 🇺🇸💪#Happy30YearsOfGold

My family has a tradition every year. We go to our local Memorial Day Parade on Memorial Day. It’s not the biggest or the best parade… but it’s ours’. We honor those who served our country and sacrificed their lives for our freedoms. I want to thank all who have served, serve and will eventually serve. A very exciting day for my daughter Giuliana! It’s her 1st dance (8th grade dance). But a sad day for me. She’s growing up and I only have a few more moments with her until Life will take her away.
