Look at these photos.
This is not a movie still.
This is one of the defining pages of Iran’s modern history.
He is Iran’s renaissance.
With the arm they had injured, he carried the most enduring symbol of our nation: the Lion and Sun.
With his courageous eyes hidden behind a blindfold, heading toward the gallows, he left his final wish:
Do not cry for me.
Do not mourn.
Do not perform Islamic rituals at my grave.
Play joyful music. Dance. Clap.
He is the Lion of Khorasan: Majidreza Rahnavard.
He was only 23 years old when the Islamic Republic publicly hanged him in Mashhad.
His birthday, June 16 is now our National Lion and Sun Day.
Every year, we raise the Lion and Sun flag to honor him.
They tried to turn his execution into a warning.
Instead, he became the symbol of an lions rising from the darkness.

First Lady @Flotus,
Today marks my twenty-fourth message.
It is Day 160 of the Lion and Sun Revolution.
I have asked you, twenty-four times to be exact, to please stand with Iranians as they struggle to simply stay alive under the repressive and illegal occupying regime.
I have asked you, twenty-four times to be exact, to speak on their behalf, to help amplify their voices in their demand for freedom from their murderers and executioners.
I have asked you, twenty-four times to be exact, to advocate for the end of the ceasefire, which is causing extreme mental, emotional, physical, and economic harm to innocent Iranians.
Today, on this twenty-fourth attempt, I am asking for something different.
Today, I ask that you please stand with Iranians in their request for arms.
Today, I ask that you please use your voice to further the reach of their request.
Today, I ask that you please advocate for their right to free themselves with our assistance.

A video released after weeks of internet blackout shows Iranians in Izeh, a city in Khuzestan Province in southern Iran, celebrating the death of Ali Khamenei.
The footage shows people dancing and chanting, “The Shah will return to his homeland.”
A public campaign has identified 115 freedom-seekers who were killed by the regime in the city of Rasht, in northern Iran, during the January 8–9 massacre.
Their names, their stories, and their sacrifice must never be forgotten.
