In the AI era, as ideas become easier and easier to produce, it becomes harder and harder to find logically consistent ideas.
Co-founder @BuildCoherence.
I dream of a world where we don't ignore our problems but instead find the root issue, seeking to understand the world as precisely as we can. That's what we are trying to do at @BuildCoherence
@The___ultimate_ Measurable claims have formal definitions. It's the unmeasurable ones that don't.
But it goes way beyond "intelligence." What is goodness? What is in "humanity's interests?"
@signulll I hope as tensions escalate that people will decrease hateful rhetoric and switch to logical transparent discourse.
This was a core motive for what my husband and I are building.

@pmddomingos We are working on it bit by bit, but we suspect that all natural language that we use to reason will be formalized.

bioRxiv appears to be funded by Zuckerberg and Sergey Brin.
Seeing AI companies fund this is really not assuring.
From their website:
bioRxiv and medRxiv thank the following for their generous financial support:
The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, the Sergey Brin Family Foundation, California Institute of Technology, Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, Imperial College London, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University, The University of Edinburgh, University of Washington, and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam

If "we" means everybody or people who are in principle against thinking, it is not possible to ethically force behavior. Otherwise then absolutely there exists people constantly and freely striving to enhance their critical thinking. Obsidian is a tool for writing whose user base wants to enhance their thinking and map it out. AxiomReason is another for making only logically valid arguments.
@suchenzang At this point, the purpose of social media is just to bully others.
Cyberbullying stops when you communicate in logic—probably because the thinking juices hinder aggression.

@nosilverv If we often can't even repeat each other's arguments to each other verbatim, why agree?
Consider: resolving disagreement isn't about pretending 2 contradictory ideas are correct, but finding and accepting whether or not your idea has a contradiction. Vice versa.
@conformal_gk@not_ellington Equations clearly describe the variables to be considered in the relationship. Pictures leave it open-ended allowing a many-one interpretation. Equations are harder to work with, but hard to incorrectly use and misinterpret. Pictures are the opposite.
@ThinkDi92468945@not_ellington Well you can even talk in pure formalization now.
Still, it's useful to have visualizations for depicting dependencies, sets, etc. as they are great for sharing with others. But also every idea is proven to be logically valid.

@MidnightSilve20@Dr_Singularity Oooohhh that's a cute thought!! Hm what does proof absent of axioms mean?? I think proof requires starting axioms/premises.
