Let this sink in: After the first round of US-Iran talks in Islamabad, US intelligence picked up that Israel was planning to assassinate the Iranian negotiators as they were returning to Tehran.

The US told regional states to alert Iran.

Israel is a state that, on paper, is a US partner but in reality is so extreme in its obsession to undermine US diplomacy that it even tries to assassinate those the US engages with in crucial negotiations.

When you take into account both Trump and JD Vance's comments of the past 72h, it is not just a push back against Israel's efforts to sabotage the deal with Iran.

It has the broader contours of an effort to "de-specialize" the US-Israel relationship. To turn it into a more normal - and healthy - relationship.

While this will cause panic in much of Washington, it will be tremendously popular with the American public, particularly younger demographics (on both the Left and Right) and with the America First base of Trump himself.

Tehran claims the move is a response to Israel’s strikes in Lebanon.

What they don’t mention is that Hezbollah has been attacking Israel on a near-daily basis and killed four Israeli soldiers yesterday.

Iran’s strategy is twofold:

1️⃣ Drive a wedge between the United States and Israel.

2️⃣ Establish a reality in which Hezbollah gets to shoot at Israelis indefinitely, but Israel is not allowed to respond.

Trump on Iran’s ballistic missiles:

“They have to have some because other people have some… what am I gonna do? We’re gonna let Saudi Arabia have missiles but they can’t?”

I get that it’s funny and I appreciate the common sense approach but if Trump really wants to shutdown these morons and their criticisms he needs put up the casualty estimates he was shown by the Pentagon for what it would take to stop Iran’s ballistic missile program.

Throw it in their fat faces. Tell them flat out “the Pentagon said it would probably cost us the lives of at least 30,000 soldiers and that’s not a price I’m willing to pay.”

Yes, I know that’s not how you’re supposed to approach these matters when discussing official military policy in public but every single day those assholes throw decorum and political etiquette out the window so who even cares anymore?

No Israel, we’re not willing to send 30,000 Americans to their deaths to stop Iran from having ballistic missiles. Get over it.
