I would have stayed in secondary position behind the first rider and overtaken when it’s safe.

@cyclingvia You’re right, and that’s why their insurance is massively more expensive than other vehicles. This still doesn’t take away from the fact that cyclists can and do cause personal injury and can ride in a reckless manner. Ergo some system of accountability should be implemented.
@gazza_d Not to be a massive pedant but that opening sentence isn’t really true. I’d say littering heroin needles outside a school would be more anti-social, for example. It’s also painfully London centric, there are loads of places in the UK where safe driving doesn’t hurt anybody.

The difference between charging at home can be a factor of 2,3 or even 4. In a free market consumers are always going to chose the best value option. Local govnts should do better.

It would need government intervention which in the USA, probably isn’t going to happen. In the meantime you can’t ask individuals to risk their families.
