A Class 11 girl went missing from Delhi in September. She is suspected to have eloped with a man as she took cash and clothes with her

FIR was filed regarding her disappearance but police didn't name the suspect in it

When our team accompanied the girl's parents to police station to about the case status this week, police told them -

"Once she runs out of cash, she would automatically return"

This is what our teams encounter on a daily basis regarding missing schoolgirls

This is why we repeatedly go to courts for securing urgent orders for police to trace the girls

However, when they are traced and brought back, it is common for cops to tutor the girls on the way into telling the child welfare committee that they should say no to getting a medical test, threatening them that if any evidence of sexual relation is found the man would go to jail for 20 years

Cops do so so that no inquiry is initiated under POCSO. This saves them work, and also many cops settle such cases by taking bribe from the perpetrator

This is precisely why @SewaNyaya and @RashtraJyoti are escalating our campaign against the growing sexualisation of schoolgirls and normalisation of sexual relationships between adult men and schoolgirls, and the tendency to victimise adult men who groom schoolgirls and make them elope

A Sociology student at Gauhati University, Nimisha Thakuria, was found unconscious at a homestay near Azara on the outskirts of Guwahati and was later declared brought dead at a hospital.

Her boyfriend, Asif Ali, who was staying with her in the same homestay room when the incident occurred, was arrested by the police.

Now, police shot him after he tried to escape from custody. He is currently in the hospital.

🚨 BIG PROBLEM FOR CJP: NHRC Bench led by Member Priyank Kanoongo takes cognizance of allegations that minor children were used as a “shield” during an illegal protest in Mumbai.

The Commission, under Section 12 of the Protection of Human Rights Act, has issued notices to Mumbai Police, MeitY, X Corp. India and Maharashtra’s Women & Child Development Department.

Mumbai Police has been directed to examine videos, photos, social-media posts and alleged group chats, register an FIR wherever a cognizable offence is disclosed, and investigate whether minors’ participation was planned in advance.

NHRC has also directed authorities to ensure the children’s safety, privacy, dignity and rehabilitation.

Action Taken Reports have been sought within one week.

A 17-year-old girl and her friend had visited Kalkaji Temple in Delhi and subsequently entered Astha Kunj Park through Gate No. 7.

3 men approached them while posing as policemen, separated the girl from her friend, and took her to a secluded area of the park, where they gang-raped her.

One accused identified as Asif was injured in a police encounter and arrested. Two other accused are still absconding.

This is the situation in Delhi.
