@EthosVentures@ClaudeDevs Exactly, they're telling us to please identify ourselves as sdk users so they can throttle us harder without actually saying it.
I understand what you're saying, but I also believe you just made my point even more valid. 850m free users and still not having to fuck over the paying customers, unlike Anthropic. Imagine not waking up to shit being walked back constantly while using a free sub. Sounds great right? Then imagine paying $200 a month and getting straight shafted.
@kerunix@ClaudeDevs Kind of what makes it so bad, OpenAI is bleeding money, claude is profitable, yet claude is the one fucking people over. Make it make sense
No, this is consumer chatbot stats only. My reasoning is that enterprise users aren't here to defend anthropic, they're silent. The ones who speak up and actually have a choice and a voice are us, not enterprise users who are completely locked to claude because their employers see fit. Sure, if 80% of revenue is enterprise, the consumer/developer subscription base is expendable to them. They don't care about losing power users on Max plans because the money is in six figure enterprise contracts. Unfortunately for them, enterprise contracts don't tend to jump on X and Reddit and sing their praises. In other words, word around town is Anthropic isn't the best anymore, enterprise will soon realize this once they see this backlash.
I legitimately can't see a scenario where this much public outrage could ever be a good thing, regardless of it being corporations or chatbot users. Enterprise has remained quiet through all the backtracking anthropic has done over the last few months, in my eyes that proves my point. We speak up, we force a change. They wouldn't be advertising on X and Reddit if they didn't give a shit about what non enterprise users think. We matter, their just not treating us like we do.
Here's the "best llm" in the game for consumers in my picture, not even able to handle a hello. I'd be shocked if enterprise aren't suffering from the same level of bullshit in one way or another.
I can't help but think that this is all because they want you to identify yourself as an sdk user so that they can further throttle you. Please don't fall for it. Codex is 10x better and more predictable right now. Enjoy it while you can trust me @AnthropicAI has done nothing but prove themselves as a failing company, scattering to pick up the pieces before its too late.
Heres that evidence

"We're also giving developers the building blocks we use ourselves to make Claude Code. We're calling this the Claude Agent SDK. The infrastructure that powers our frontier products—and allows them to reach their full potential—is now yours to build with."

Exactly! Basically they gave us a usage bucket, but never actually intended for us to use it. They have literally fucked over their most loyal customer base, and when the whole picture is put together it looks really bad. Claiming that claude max was never intended for the kind of usage it's seeing is a fucking lie, they controlled the limits and touted sdk as a feature for devs, if it's not sustainable they shouldn't have alloted the amount of usage they did. This is why everyone should be pissed.

True. They're aware. Here's how they announced the SDK.

19M vs 800M. And instead of figuring out how to close that gap, they're squeezing the 19M they have.
The developers and power users who chose Claude over ChatGPT were the most loyal, vocal evangelists Anthropic had. The exact people who bring other users to the platform. And they're systematically driving every single one of them out — throttling, banning third-party tools, capping programmatic use, going silent when called out.
OpenAI is giving away Codex, courting developers, hiring the OpenClaw founder. Anthropic is putting meters on the tools they promised were "yours to build with."
That 42x gap is about to get a lot wider.
I really don't think @AnthropicAI thought this one through.
Let's be real, almost nobody chose Claude because it was the best "chat" model. People chose Claude because it was the best coding model. Claude Code is what put Anthropic on the map. 36% of all https://t.co/rhyeoa1JHU usage is coding tasks, and that's just the interactive side. Factor in Claude Code's 1.6 million weekly active users running headless sessions, CI pipelines, and agent fleets, the real number is probably 60-70% code-related across the entire platform.
And what did Anthropic just do? Capped the majority use case of their own product.
Less than 8 months ago, they launched the Agent SDK and told developers: "The infrastructure that powers our frontier products is now yours to build with." They marketed claude -p as a subscription feature. They promoted headless mode, CI/CD integration, third-party agent support, all included in your Max plan.
Now that an entire ecosystem formed around those tools, they're walling it off behind a monthly credit that power users will burn through in a single day. A $200 credit on a $200/mo plan. That's not a bonus, that's a cap on something you were already paying for.
The timeline tells the whole story:
Launch Max plan - "Claude Code included, more usage for power users"
Launch Agent SDK - "the building blocks we use ourselves, now yours"
Promote claude -p - headless mode, automation, all part of the subscription
April 2026 - ban third-party tools entirely
May 2026 - "give it back" behind a metered credit wall
That's not a policy clarification. That's a bait and switch.
Meanwhile, ChatGPT has 900 million weekly active users. Claude has 19 million monthly. Instead of figuring out how to close that 42x gap, Anthropic is squeezing the loyal developers and power users who chose them over OpenAI, the exact people who evangelize the product and bring others to the platform.

I already cancelled my Max subscription. I know I'm not alone. The devs who built on Claude are the reason Claude Code hit $2.5B in revenue, and they're being shown the door.
@chillerlol@ClaudeDevs Same! After seeing the stuff I've found on the subject today I did the same. Openai is the current all around choice, without question.

@cyrus_zad@ClaudeDevs Trying to control cost looks a lot like trying to control how someone uses their alloted usage buckets, effectively rendering usage buckets useless. They're not to be taken seriously.

@iam_rekt_@ClaudeDevs For real! Exactly my reaction. Give a usage bucket, lower usage bucket, lower effort, control how usage bucket can be used effectively rendering usage buckets fucking useless! Sound familiar?

@jake__somers@ClaudeDevs People should leave. Being promised one thing and in less than 7 months made to feel like it was never supposed to be a feature is predatory as hell, and caused a lot of people to spend wasted time building around it.
