Amnesty International raised a banner during the 2026/27 men’s UEFA Nations League match on 25 Sep in which Austria defeated Israel 3–1, calling for an end to the genocide in the Gaza Strip.

“Our protest is directed against many governments and sporting authorities that know exactly what is happening in the Gaza Strip and still do nothing to stand against genocide,” said Alexander Weihrauch, Campaigner at Amnesty International Austria.

Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu has told his teammates that he does not want to play in the upcoming Nations League matches against Israel, according to The Irish Times.

Several other players are also understood to be considering withdrawing, but a team-wide boycott has not been confirmed.

Two of the firms - Greenkote PLC and JC Bamford Excavators Ltd (JCB) - are headquartered in Britain, while many others like AirBnB operate in the UK.

Lord Bamford and JCB-associated companies have donated millions of pounds to the Conservative Party.
