@Scott_Wiener You CANNOT say that "trans kids" are more vulnerable to su*c*de and then at the same time that parents should not be notified if their kids are "trans." You cannot withhold information from parents that pertains to their safety.
@akafaceUS This is a VERY common practice at urban schools and day cares. i have seen this many times. the kids don't care and it keeps them safe. you can't hold all their hands at once!
This recent incident at the high school hockey rink is so horrific and hits far too close to home. Sure "not all trans are murderers" but people need to start looking at insane behavior and respond accordingly not protect violence under the cover of trans. I'm sick, right now.
@EllePalmer1 I recently read a book titled "Healthy, Happy ADHD" by Lisa Dee. She has a lot of really great suggestions. I highly recommend this book. It's very reassuring and digestible. I listened to it on audible and I have my daughter listening to it now. Good luck!
@Heccles94 The worst example of homophobia is applying medical interventions to make gay people straight. Many of those you call "transphobic" are trying to prevent doctors doing medical interventions to make gay people appear straight. How is that homophobia?
@BriannaWu Mostly agree. But public policy cannot be drafted on nuance. There is no "true transsexual" test. And it is impossible to tell which person's identity will remain stable (as yours seemingly has). I do agree that flattening diverse experiences into one label has been bad for all.
@BriannaWu Agreed with you yesterday. Disagree today. But really I think the issue comes down to loopholes and changing of definitions. When you change the definition of "woman" you cannot defend a single right that women have fought for.
@thecavemommy When you say "if you have nothing and then MORE nothing" you are verbally multiplying a negative times a positive, which, yes, is more negative. If you have nothing and then less and less nothing (i.e. more of something) then you end up positive. Does that help?
@BriannaWu On day one (five years ago) when I started speaking to friends about this and was accused of being "transphobic" I said "this movement is going to be terrible for 'old school trans people,' so which one of us is really transphobic." No one wanted to listen.
@BriannaWu I agree. The problem is the "trans activists" (many of which are not even trans) changed all the definitions, removed the word "transsexual" and flattened a vast and diverse experience of distress into one word "trans" with one required approach "affirmation and transition."
BREAKING: American Society of Plastic Surgeons issues new position statement opposing "gender-affirming" surgeries in adolescents under the age of 19.
ASPS also acknowledges risks of endocrine interventions, poor guidelines, and inappropriate use of "autonomy" principle.
@GyllKing@michaelphe14501 @DianInHerOrb But that's precisely the point. Lots of people DO wake up one day and decide they are the opposite sex. (After a childhood free of such notions.) Unless you are saying ONLY the people who feel this way from a very young age count as trans.
@RamonBolke42@_CryMiaRiver Yes those are also contagious. Women/girls have higher empathy for evolutionary reasons and an evolutionary imperative to be part of a social group. It makes girls-especially teen girls-more susceptible. Also, teen girls historically use their own body to articulate distress.
