Biden won by 7M votes. If he’d won by 3M the Electoral College would’ve given it to Trump. By 5M, multiple states would’ve been close enough for Trump’s shenanigans to succeed in overturning. This is not a system that will survive the next close election without more violence.
I'm listening to the LA mayoral debate and just heard one of the most insane questions of my political life:
"What have you done to protect single family homes?"
This is the most NIMBY boomer question
Your housing is unaffordable because of the assumption that single family homes should be "protected" and other forms housing (row houses, apartments, duplexes, high-rises) should be ILLEGAL -- which is the case in every city in America
If you want prices to come down, you have to LET CITIES BUILD
Complain about the rates if you want, but it makes very good sense for property tax to be a tax on the value of the property!
Basing it on purchase price would create all kinds of crazy incentives...people who bought a house 30 years ago would be paying property tax on a "$20,000 home" so the entire city budget would be funded by young people edging their way into their first home, which would be insane.
The maximum an individual can legally donate to a candidate in an election is $3300.
Elon donated $277M to Trump in 2024 because of loopholes rich people use to buy elections.
If you care about election integrity — overturn Citizens United so our elections aren’t auctions.
It has felt for months now that the federal govt is doing everything in its power, including acts of violence, to make the Twin Cities unlivable. Vance's announcement shows that effort continues even if Trump's thugs aren't murdering people in the street right now. I just don't see how this can go on for 3 more years.
Ohio GOP rep raped his own daughter, Republican prosecutor dropped the case because of a taliban esque standard "nobody else was there to witness it" (no shit), Ohio Republicans welcome him back with open arms
a party of, by, and for rapists and pedophiles
Totally forgot about this.
The retirement savings accounts that Trump announced last night were already signed into law by President Joe Biden.
It was part of a big funding bill that Congress passed in 2022.

The original ACA had a ton of other pay-fors and cost controls that Republicans slowly repealed or sabotaged over the course of 10 years.
Without all that, the law probably could insure every American without the enhanced subsidies. But that's not the world we live in now.
The only reason Trump ran in 2024: He knew Jack Smith had him by the balls & only way he’d stay out of federal prison, was to win re-election.
So he made deals with big donors like Adelson, Thiel, Musk, Mellon and other for their support & resources.
Do you get it yet?
This is a crucially important point. This is no longer about simply requiring proof of citizenship, itself an unconstitutional poll tax. It is about giving sensitive voter data to pernicious actors who will use it to purge legitimate voters they don’t like. Pure voter suppression
BREAKING: The latest version of the GOP’s Save America Act would require that all 50 states give our voter data to Trump’s DHS. Are we supposed to just “trust” that Trump’s people won’t then give our data to Palantir? #NoOnSave
Jonathan Alter (@jonathanalter) has learned that Trump will kill Netflix’s bid for Warner Bros. and help Paramount win, giving the president control of Fox, CBS, CNN, and TikTok.

Never forget that the last time the GOP had the opportunity, they drew an extreme Republican gerrymander of Virginia.
They don’t hate gerrymandering.
They hate when their playbook is used against them.
