First time at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh since my ankle surgery in 2016. I'm blow away by the scale and design of the site. My outpatient appointments are usually at SJH and I can't help feel that the RIE is a much more therapeutic patient enviroment!
@Bonecondor I'm from Scotland, but this is what I would define as lemonade, or you have supermarket own brand lemonade. Sprite and 7-up are there own drinks, in the same regard as coke, pepsi, or irn bru.
Ended up supporting A&E for my full bank shift last night. It's an area that always intimidated me, but I loved it. The staff were amazing and supportive, when they found out I was a MH student, they acknowledged my skill set and I was able to care for those who needed it.
Completed my critical appraisal presentation today, and as much as I despise public speaking, I think I might have slightely enjoyed the experience. I'm really proud of myself for how much I've developed this skill and how much more comfortable I've become at presenting!
So I bought an embroidery kit, in the act of self-care and have unlocked a new hobby. I've been trying to practice a new mantra in life 'Progress, not Perfection', and I feel like the evolution of my french knot and fishbone stitch displays that perfectly ๐ https://t.co/D7h8HM4jP9
My 5 year old asked if he could help me do some uni work last night. Walking to school this morning, he asked if we could do more work tonight and visit my school again soon. He honestly melts my heart, and I love having him along on this journey! #studentnurse
@AidanAuthor The body keeps the score, Regeneration Trilogy by Pat Barker is now on my reading list, looks at Craiglockart War Hospital. Blackbird Singing. The Kite Runner, Noughts and Crosses and The Book Theif, are my all-time favs.
In 2018, soon after joining @EdinburghUni, I was given my first tour of the Old Royal Infirmary, which was beginning to be converted into @UoE_EFI.
We were told we COULD NOT take any pictures. But since when have I listened to any rules?
Today I revisited where I stood then...

So proud of myself for passing my A-E assessment OSCE with flying colours, especially considering I was 38 weeks pregnant at the time I sat it. Now I can relax a little bit more and enjoy my leave of absence and re-adjusting to life with a newborn!
If you live in Edinburgh or the Lothians you might be asked to take part in the Lothian Public Health Survey. Completing this survey will help us improve our understanding of the health & wellbeing of our community. It is anonymous & will only take 15 mins https://t.co/qZuKElNFzF
@BrianWebster18@nursing_nat@WeStudentNurse @StNurseProject Been so fortunate that both my ward placements have allowed me to self-roaster as it allows for flexibility around childcare, appointments etc. Been a little more difficult this placement as there is 4 students from my cohort and we aren't meant to be on the same shift..
@Miles_PBH Just done an assignment about utilising servant leadership style to promote self management of long term conditions. So many benefits to this leadership style but did find a potential limitation is during a emergency situation due to increased time needed to make decisions.
