Thank you to our families for their kind donations to our Harvest campaign. Reception have been thinking learning about Harvest time this week and about how we can help those in need. We enjoyed sorting the donated food into baskets.
Reception have been learning about Lunar New Year and have enjoyed lots of activities and crafts linked to the celebration. From creating lanterns to listening to an author read their story and even learning about different number systems - it’s been a week of exciting findings.
What a lovely start to the Spring term we have had. It has been wonderful to be back with the Reception children. Our week has included @relaxkids , using our imaginations, learning and lots of play. We had all missed our friends over the Christmas holidays!
Reception enjoyed their taster session of #relaxkids with Karen this afternoon. We thought about what ‘relaxing’ means to us, why it’s important to relax and took part in lots of activities, becoming calmer step by step. We are looking forward to continuing this next term.
We have had a busy afternoon on our @TeessideHospice #reindeerrun . The Reception children ran so far - all in the name of charity. There was even a special visitor who ran with them. A huge ‘Well done’ to our children and ‘Thank you’ to our families.
The children in reception have been starting to pack the donations for our @CauseHampers for Christmas. They have used the checklists (and their reading skills) to make sure the hampers have everything they need for the families.
We are starting to receive donations for our @CauseHampers campaign. Thank you to those families who have donated so far. We look forward to helping to give deserving families a wonderful Christmas. 🎄🎅🏽⭐️
Over the past two weeks, Reception have thoroughly enjoyed learning about their rights as part of @UNICEF_uk OutRight Campaign. We have discussed how adults help us receive our rights, in particular adults who work in Healthcare. Here is a snapshot of our learning!
A huge ‘Thank you’ to @ClevelandFB for visiting our school today. The children were so interested in the engine, equipment and uniforms - and were particularly excited to try the hose. The rest of our early years children are excited for their visit tomorrow.
@JUST_ONE_Tree Reception have had a wonderful day exploring all the benefits that trees provide us and animals around the world with! We understand the importance of preserving our rain forests and used our hands to paint a tree on the display at the entrance to our shared area.
Thank you to our grown ups for sharing our Reception children’s baby photos. We enjoyed playing Guess Who with the photos and talking about how we have all grown and changed. We read lots of lovely books about growing and discussed things that babies need, too.
A huge ‘Thank you’ to our wonderful families who have donated food for the Thornaby Food Bank. Today in Reception, we discussed why we celebrate Harvest time and how important it is for us to give to others in need.
Look at our detective skills. We have been on a number hunt this week. Our searches took us around our indoor and outdoor areas in Reception and even to the big playground. Can you see which numbers we found?
We have loved our PE sessions with Mrs Short so far this term. Today, we practised moving our bodies in different ways. We had to be careful moving around the hall so that we didn’t bump into others. We loved the Remote Control game, The Gate game and the Traffic Light game too.
Today, we welcomed the last of our new Reception children. We have had a wonderful day exploring both the inside and outside areas and playing with friends, old and new.
We are very excited to welcome all of our new starters. We are going to have such a wonderful time in reception this year and can't wait for the adventures we will have!
