Yesterday, I issued a directive to all broadcasters in Uganda, emphasising our collective responsibility to uphold ethical advertising standards within the realm of stage plays and public entertainment.

As outlined in the Stage Plays and Public Entertainment Act and the 2019 Rules, it is imperative that no individual or entity stages or promotes these events without first obtaining a permit from @UCC_Official.

This requirement extends to all forms of advertising, including TV, radio, online platforms, posters, billboards, and any other media.

Effective immediately, broadcasters are required to take specific actions to ensure compliance. First, it is essential to verify that event organisers possess the necessary permits before airing their advertisements.

Additionally, broadcasters must submit monthly reports detailing the events advertised along with the relevant permits obtained.

These measures represent a significant step toward maintaining the integrity of our public entertainment sector and safeguarding our audiences.

Non-compliance with these directives will result in regulatory sanctions under the Uganda Communications Act.
