After being struck down with a deadly disease in 2016, I now share my story to inspire and educate others as I continue to recover from Meningococcal disease
“After thinking I had the flu, I kept getting worse and after 12 hours I was on life support and my family were told to say goodbye.” Sarah Joyce shares her experience with #meningitis: https://t.co/HlZBAVrZ0I
Well, I can’t believe it…but I WON! I am so honoured that I have won the National Award for Disability Leadership 2023 for ‘Change Making’ from @DisabilityLead for my efforts regarding Meningococcal Disease, change, advocacy & inclusion for our community #DisabilityAwards2023
This week on our #unisaLED screen we are flagging that it is World Immunisation Week, which is designed to "highlight the collective action needed and to promote the use of vaccines to protect people of all ages against disease" @UN
Totally innocent and loved by all but a few nasty coppers who haven't got the message. There day is coming but for now just remember Danny Lim as this happy friendly guy demonstrating for more pay for police.
We knew long COVID was real over 12mths ago. Please read our submission to current Federal

"Meningitis is feared, and with good reason as this new study confirms time is of the essence when treating meningitis. Sadly, we know of many families who have lost loved ones within hours" - Vinny Smith, CEO of @M_R_F and CoMO.
I'm going to keep saying it until the journalists make the connection. The people currently dying 'with underlying conditions' are the vulnerable people we were supposed to be protecting from COVID.
I find it very odd how aggressive people on here can get about my/other peoples personal decision to be more conservative about their own covid risk tolerance… why are you so angry that I choose to limit my in-person interactions and avoid crowds?
I really don’t understand. 🤷♀️
Measures to reduce Covid-19 in the UK successfully curbed the spread of other infectious diseases like meningitis, with rates being at a historic low in September. Sadly, since then, there's been a sharp increase in meningitis B cases among adolescents and young adults. (1/2)
These figures have now exceeded pre-pandemic levels. This rise in cases confirms the risks of a post-lockdown infectious disease "rebound", warned about by meningitis charities.
Sharing the signs and symptoms and options for prevention is crucial.

One year ago today I received THE long awaited call and surgery that has given me another chance at a better life with a kidney transplant.
I am so grateful and will be forever thankful to my donor and their family for saying Yes

Super excited and proud to be an official Ambassador for #Meningitis Centre Australia. I realise how lucky I am to be here and be able to share my story. So being able to give back and help prevent this happening to others is something I don’t take for granted 💜. #meningococcal
