My favorite aspect of Dracula is that he is irredeemably evil.

Flesh-Eating Zombies? Not their fault.
The Frankenstein monster? He didn't ask to be made.
The Wolfman? Didn't choose his curse.
The Gillman? The humans came to HIS house.
(I admit the Phantom, Mummy, and Invisible Man were evil, though perhaps not irredeemably so.)

But Dracula is Just Plain Bad. This is why I hated Francis Ford Coppola's Dracula, and now Luc Besson's Dracula. They tried to whitewash Dracula by adding a romance subtext and it's dumb. Leave the past-lives romance to the Mummy. Can we not have one single monster that is just plain evil?

Make Dracula Malignant Again.
