@AreaFormulaOne@ckckck2463@brakeboosted You can. It just completely stops anything competitive from happening/changing and sends cars to the pits. The session isn’t really over when the time hits 0 as seen by Russel improving. A red flagged session with a no meaningful time finishes as is btw eg Imola 22’
@SparksF1@bmwjirdvjk@Formula2 I’m confused, you think it should or shouldn’t be a penalty? IMO the pit itself is without penalty but he finished the race without a legal “mandatory” pit which should be
@alank75@Formula2 One mandatory stop must be done. We agree on that. He reached the line on time to not get penalised for just coming in under a VSC anyway, sure. However that tire change as seen in the 2nd highlight is not counted as a mandatory stop. Finishing the race without a stop is a pen?
@Stephanie_Alisa@Vinnepinne3@Formula2 “A pit stop under B) is not considered as a mandatory stop” he finished the race without stopping. That’s a penalty
@TimSEaston@ardexii@PietPaaltjes69@Formula2 Reaching the line in time isn’t the point, the tyre change under VSC doesn’t count as a “mandatory”stop. Penalty for finishing a race without a legal mandatory stop
@alan_kettley @Formula2 You read the regs and missed where it says that it doesn’t count as mandatory. The pit itself is without penalty but finishing the race without a “mandatory” one will carry penalty
@Formula2 FYI He may not be penalised for the act of pitting since he made the entry line (road to pitlane) before VSC. However the tyre change under the VSC does not count as a mandatory one. That was his only tyre change. So he’ll take a penalty for not doing a “mandatory” pit stop
@bmwjirdvjk@Formula2 I think you’re misunderstanding. He can pit under a VSC without a penalty since he crossed the entry line, I agree. However that stop is not counted as a mandatory stop. Therefore he will be penalised for not carrying out his mandatory stop
