The Red Windsor Apple - a beautiful British sweet, tangy, crunchy apple growing in Herefordshire, Worcestershire & Kent. Discovered near Malvern, Worcestershire
Hop waste mulch added to the new Junami and Sunburst orchard. Brilliant for three reasons: 1. Increases worms/improves soil; 2. Suppresses weeds/reduces herbicides; 3. Reduces evaporation. This best practice is what new ELMS schemes should encourage.
Red Windsor apples looking gorgeous. Harvest starts in last week of August so plenty of time to reach the perfect size. Sweet, tart, complex, crispy, delicious! And very very British.
Walk round the farm tonight: @RedWindsorApple fruitlets growing well. Some poor pollination and frost means one orchard is very patchy but others much better
We used these moth mating disrupters last year (released from the brown capsule) and as a consequence used significantly less pesticide. Simply sterilises the moths and prevents fruit damage. We will be using them again this year!
We are proud to be showcasing agriculture as one of the most inspirational and influential industries.

Its cold & windy today after a warm February. Our @RedWindsorApple are starting to come into bud. How many weeks to blossom time? It will depend on the weather! @GBApples
