🟣¿Es posible sostener sistemas de cuidado sin una reforma fiscal profunda? La semana pasada, en #IAFFE2025, se llevó a cabo el panel "Comparando el financiamiento de la economía del cuidado en 16 países del #SurGlobal".

👉Klelia Guerrero, especialista de #JusticiaFiscal de Latindadd, presentó un estudio que muestra que hay más políticas de cuidado, pero sin avances en impuestos progresivos que las financien.

The theme for today’s World Youth Skills Day is ‘Youth Skills for Peace and Development.’ As the gap between the #skills required by employers and those possessed by job seekers continues to widen, it is important to remember that there is a need to enhance #employability among the #youth; a stable society is built on stable individual futures.

The #research and discourse at JustJobs Network focusses on ways to build a just and inclusive #worldofwork, with youth at the front-and-centre. In various contexts, we look at #skillbuilding in a nuanced manner, against a rapidly transforming world of work.

JJN’s project on Gender, Artificial Intelligence and Skills, supported by International Development Research Centre (@IDRC_CRDI), Canada, explores how technological shifts are reshaping skill demands in low- and middle-income countries, with a focus on women’s access to training, subsequent labour market opportunities, and employment outcomes.

In this effort, JJN partnered with organisations from different regions across the globe: @StrathCIPIT at @StrathU (Africa), @Red_mercosur (Latin America), @Kenan_Asia (Southeast Asia), and @ERFlatest (Middle East and North Africa). JJN represented South Asia in this consortium.

We are pleased to launch the regional report from Sub-Saharan Africa entitled, ‘Gender, Artificial Intelligence, and Digital Skills: Sub-Saharan Africa.’

Authored by Angeline Wairegi, Ph.D., Kerubo Ombati, and Kevin Otieno of the Center for Intellectual Property and Information Technology Law (CIPIT) at Strathmore University, this report delves into digitalization’s impact on Sub-Saharan African countries’ labour markets, skill requirements, and gender equality. 

To tackle challenges and leverage opportunities, this report recommends: investing in technology to upgrade TVET systems; establishing partnerships between TVET institutions and industry to ensure that training programs align with industry needs; providing training for teachers to ensure that they have the skills and qualifications to teach Industry 4.0-related subjects; and developing curricula that aligns with the needs of Industry 4.0.
