Your morals, your empathy, your love, your life, and your aspirations should be based on Jesus Christ's teachings, not those of politicians, celebrities, or billionaires. God is opening our eyes; mankind succumb to their desires through lust, money, & anger.
@newsermon@martinplaut Because the victim names are available. Your concern is not about the death but find a reason to discredit. You’re under every comment about this massacre trying to find a reason, you can’t hide death. The propaganda that has spawn to ethnic cleanse Amhara is documented
@lilyally98 They will make TikTok videos sitting in their car crying how they didn’t see it coming. Although, they spent their existence hating on the women that tried to warn them
@HannahHabtu TPLF youth group was reported to massacred hundreds of Amhara residents in the town of Mai-Kadra. 150 were murdered in Kombolcha. These are all verified and it doesnt include sterilization, rape, displacement and imprisonment that was done by Tigrayan forces for 30 years.
@HannahHabtu Well Hannah lets see what Tigrayans in TPLF did: Massacres in Chenna and Kobo Massacres: Between August 31 and September 9, 2021. .Widespread Gender Based Violence in Maikadra: Documented reports detail TPLF fighters systematically using violence, gang rapes, against Amhara women
The ongoing violence against Amharas in Ethiopia, including the recent killing of over 40 Amhara Orthodox Christians in Arsi, must be recognized for what it is. The international community is being misinformed ;this is a targeted attack on Amhara identity.
#AmharaGenocide
Don't wait for those who face the greatest risks in Ethiopia to speak out. It is the responsibility of the diaspora to be a voice for those who cannot safely speak for themselves.Use your freedom & resources to raise awareness, advocate for justice, and preserve the truth
My biggest issues with the Amhara diaspora is its lack of advocacy and passivity. Your history and culture are being erased, and false narratives are being used to justify the ethnic cleansing of your people
Gathering at sporting events and holding a flag is not advocacy. Teach your children about their heritage and about what is happening to their people. Share documented evidence, educate them on their history, and encourage them to speak out.
#Ethiopia: More than 40 Orthodox Christians have reportedly been massacred, and centuries-old churches have been burned by Oromo Islamist militants, who are alleged to be supported by the Abiy Ahmed regime, in the East Arsi Zone of Ethiopia’s Oromia Region since May 31, 2026.
@ffdyke I've been grappling with this question for a while: why would an all knowing, omnipresent God, who knows the creations before birth, goes on to create individuals who will struggle with suicidal ideations. Then punish them in the afterlife for their inability to cope?
🚨 37 Orthodox Christian worshippers killed and more than 200 homes burned in large-scale attack yesterday in Asko Woreda, Arsi Zone
@MeseretMedia – June 1, 2026
According to information received by Meseret Media from local sources, a large-scale and deadly attack targeting followers of the Orthodox Christian faith has been underway since May 31 in Asko Woreda, East Arsi Zone, Oromia Region. Sources report that 37 people have been killed so far.
The attack reportedly caused extensive destruction and looting in the areas of Telata Gabriel and Kuftena Medhanealem. Local information indicates that 234 residential homes were completely destroyed by fire, along with two historic Orthodox churches.
The violence reportedly continued on June 1, with what sources described as “extremely severe” attacks taking place across several kebeles in the woreda. Reports indicate that attacks were ongoing in Zedibu, Erecha Michael, Sunte Mariam, Bogdo Abo, Lencha Oda, Jiso, and Kwas Dire kebeles.
Residents told the outlet that they are unable to withstand the attacks on their own. Many whose homes and property were burned and who fear for their lives have reportedly fled into nearby forests.
One local source told Meseret Media by telephone that residents had previously attempted to organize their own self-defense efforts, but government officials allegedly reassured the community that the area was secure, leading residents to lower their guard. The source claimed this left the population vulnerable to the current attacks.
Additional reports released later in the day reportedly provided further background regarding the origins and circumstances surrounding the violence.
According to local accounts, national attention has largely been focused on Ethiopia’s election, and armed groups allegedly took advantage of the resulting security vacuum to launch the attacks.
Sources suggest the attacks, which specifically targeted Orthodox Christian communities in East Arsi, appeared to have been carried out during the eve and day of the national election.
In Telata Chefa Kebele, Orthodox Christian homes were reportedly singled out and burned, while livestock and other property were looted by armed attackers. As a result, residents reportedly abandoned the area and fled toward Sunte.
Similarly, in Kara Kuftena Kebele, residents reportedly fled with the Tabot (holy altar replica) of Medhanealem Church in an effort to save both their lives and sacred religious artifacts from destruction.
Reports indicate that the attacks also targeted religious institutions. The historic Telata Chefa St. Gabriel Church, described as more than 101 years old and a significant landmark for the local community, was reportedly completely destroyed by fire.
In addition, various service buildings, guest facilities, and other structures belonging to Kara Kuftena Medhanealem Church were also reportedly burned and destroyed.
Residents say they remain displaced in forested areas without adequate security protection. Community members appealed to the government and both federal and regional security authorities to intervene immediately to halt the violence and displacement and provide urgent humanitarian assistance to those affected.
Meseret Media will continue monitoring the security situation and provide further updates as more information becomes available.
“The @LemkinInstitute remains greatly concerned about the ongoing widespread genocide against the Amhara people in Ethiopia. For the past eight years, the Amhara have been systematically targeted based on their ethnic identity and subjected to killings, abductions, sexual violence, and arbitrary detention. This pattern of violence has led to an estimated tens of thousands of civilian casualties.”
