He was 19 when he was convicted of a 1984 rape and murder. He had no connection to it. A key witness was a Klansman's former wife. Another was a hotel worker who later admitted she had been pressured.

In 1994, DNA excluded him completely. The courts responded that the DNA did not prove someone else had acted alone, and refused to release him.
He served another decade.

In 2003 the DNA was finally run through a database. It matched a man already in prison, who confessed within days.

Darryl Hunt walked out in 2004 after nineteen and a half years.

He spent the rest of his life working with other exonerated men and people coming out of prison. He died in 2016.

The system knew he was innocent for a full decade and made him serve it. That is not a mistake. A mistake ends when you find out.

DNA cleared Darryl Hunt. North Carolina still kept him in prison for another ten years.

🚨BREAKING: An Indiana “Oath Keeper” has been sentenced for child s*x crimes.

The 43-year-old Fort Wayne, Indiana man was sentenced Friday to 16 years in prison as part of a plea agreement, closing out a case that stretched back over a decade.

Fisher was charged earlier this year for molesting two girls in Allen County in 2014. Both victims were under 14 years old at the time.

While the abuse sat unresolved, Fisher was busy building a MAGA social media presence.

His Facebook — listing Fort Wayne as home, shows him posting the Indiana Oath Keepers logo back in July 2022.

The Oath Keepers are a far-right anti-government militia group. Several members, including founder Stewart Rhodes, were convicted of seditious conspiracy for their role in the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol attack — among the most serious charges brought against any insurrectionist that day.

In July 2024, Fisher updated his profile picture to a shot of Trump pumping his fist after the alleged 2024 assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Justice finally caught up. Fisher will spend the next 16 years finding out what accountability actually looks like.

Fisher does not appear to be transgender, a drag queen, undocumented immigrant, Muslim, or any other minority the right likes to demonize — making it more likely this story remains buried in the local news.

🚨BREAKING: A Minnesota MAGA State Trooper who filmed himself s*xually assaulting an infant while in uniform just found out the badge does not put him above the law.

Jeremy Francis Plonski was sentenced to 27 years in federal prison for producing child s*xual abuse material and 20 years for distributing it, to be served concurrently, plus 15 years of supervised release.

Court records show he made and sent the videos in 2023. Prosecutors say he was wearing his firearm and State Patrol and Army Reservist uniforms during the assaults.

He sent material to a Kik user he described as being in a relationship with him. He pleaded guilty.

He was arrested in late April 2023. The State Patrol fired him. A related Scott County case remains active.

Plonski used the alias Zela Zula on Facebook where he posted images of himself in his uniform, shared Breitbart News posts attacking Obama as being weak on foreign policy, complaints that not enough people attend church and worship Jesus, and an image of Trump’s fist pump moment after the alleged assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Official charging documents and news coverage identify him as a former Minnesota State Patrol trooper and Army Reservist.

This story has received no coverage outside of local news.
