@Tate_Roberts_@JayRBP Elite defender? Yes, he’ll be a gold glove finalist.
Above average bat? We’ve seen a hot 1st month followed by 1/2 a season of below to well below average hitting so I’m not there yet with you. I’m sure in time he will be. Still plenty of time for it to happen this year
@Tate_Roberts_@JayRBP Nah, the facts are the numbers I listed already.
“No franchise would rather have Sal over JJ” is clearly an opinion
Another opinion - Werherholt is a great defender. If the Reds didn’t already have Hayes in their lineup I’d love him at Cincinnati 😂
@Tate_Roberts_@JayRBP Don’t need to get worked up about it! Lol
Since May 1st he’s a .687 OPS and a below league average hitter. Thats an 81 game sample size. 1/2 a season.
The even worse (near unplayable) sample I gave is his most recent 150 plate appearances or around 1/4 a season. 28% below avg
@Tate_Roberts_@JayRBP Wetherholt’s last 150 PAs =72 wRC+
Stewart during that stretch = 125 wRC+
Both were blazing hot through April, the league adjusted, but only one of them adjusted back.
Wetherholt won’t win the ROY on defense alone. If Sal keeps his pace JJ will need to start hitting again too
@RedsDaily4 Still need to move them. Might be able to look back at one of these deals like the Naquin deal bringing in Hector
For sure these 8
Stephenson
Lowe
Suarez
Singer
Burke
Johnson
Ferguson
Pagan
Is Antone’s team control up after 2026? I’d hate to move him after all he’s done
@rotr7778@BuckeyeNatty He was -8 OAA. Nobody liked his defense! 🤣
Agree to disagree on JJ & Sal - If the ROY was given now then sure. However JJ hasn’t hit well since mid June and Sal’s still on a 34HR/≈120 RBI pace. If these trends continue much longer (I think they might) then it’ll be Sal
@rotr7778@BuckeyeNatty 2021 Reds.
Castellanos - .939 OPS / 138 OPS+ / -7 OAA / 3.1 WAR
Winker - .949 OPS / 143 OPS+ / -7 OAA / 2.7 WAR
Votto - .938 OPS / 139 OPS+ / +2 OAA / 3.3 WAR
Best position player on that team looking at WAR
India (ROY that year lol) - .835 OPS / 116 OPS+ / “-8 OAA” / 4.1 WAR
@rotr7778@BuckeyeNatty If current trends continue it won’t be as big of a debate at the end of the season.
Wetherholts last 150 PAs going back into mid June have him at a 72 wRC+ .597 OPS
Tracking Stewart back to the same period has him with a 124 wRC+ and his HR today probably bumps that number up
@RedsInFour I think he gets the best return of any player the reds move tomorrow. Get what you can and move on. Try to resign him after next years lockout is over.
Originally I was just pointing out the contradiction in your “ToTheStuds” and “extend our 30 year old catcher” takes
@RedsInFour lol! Yea but that wouldn’t have made for as funny a graphic
“ToTheStuds” but also extend your best expiring trade chip as he enters the back half of his career playing the sports most physically demanding position. Feels like 2 drastically different directions
