@JoeyJojosWkyTrp@BradyHartel They own the ones from the cartoons, which were used in the Archie comics, so you are right. They likely don't want to have to micromanage the plots of a new series, as Penders might claim they stole a storyline of his to which he reclaimed the rights.
@GorgonsGrimoire@TheBadUncle@ericbabe3 I didn't say subtraction was hard, or impossible, or didn't happen outside of the game.
I said mental addition is easier than mental subtraction.
So it shouldn't surprise that some people prefer to use basic addition instead of using reference numbers/tables and subtraction.
@dungeoncraft@ArqImt@Grummz@Wizards_DnD The WotC Terms [of Service] agreement on their website. I don't think it applies to publishing on their tabletop games. I think it's for digital services/games like D&D Beyond homebrew, D&D Beyond Forums, etc.

@mikemearls@newbiedm Question about that: there are *almost* enough details for how to run multiclassing in that PDF that you could kinda reverse-engineer it. When you ran Basic Rules-based 5E games, did you allow your players to multiclass?
@mikemearls As it takes -1 hour to roll up 1 new character, DMs get gunshy about putting PCs at too much risk, esp. at low levels & with newer players.
Let's normalize simple, easy character creation & less fluff that causes indecision.
I wish 5E's Basic Rules were accepted as standard 5E.
@mikemearls Ancient history question: What did you learn in the DnDNext playtests that called for removing the Wilderness Exploration Turn and Dungeon Turn procedures found in the DM Guidelines in Packet 10, but left many of the associated rules kinda orphaned in the books?
@Neo_Antwon @Zerochan Fierce rumors swirling that say Xbox is going, effectively, third-party, publishing even major exclusives like Starfield and Hi-Fi Rush on PS5 going forward.
@HoorayTv21@tanks404 *UPDATE: Apparently the listed copyright on Gallopin' Gaucho's sound version is 1929, even though the official Walt Disney Archives site reports it debuted December 30, 1928. So it's arguably PD this year, arguably next year. Maybe wait til 2025 to be safe.
@HoorayTv21@tanks404 You can even make derivative works based on those specific cartoons (and ONLY those 3 cartoons). But if your execution drifts too close to the newer Mickey Mouse cartoons you could run afoul of Disney. Which, I believe, is why those shorts exist.
@Wizards_DnD Please show us that you are people who hold to your word and release the 3.5 SRD under a CC-BY-4.0 license, as Kyle Brinks told us he expected to happen by the end of 2023.
@DnDBeyond Why did "Review Previous SRD Editions for Inclusion in Creative Commons" get pushed from "In Progress" back in March out to "Upcoming" in the new update? Did it get shoved even further onto the backburner? Please give us a more substantive update on that, @Wizards_DnD. Thanks.
@BradyHartel Asterisk is because his acting skill was lacking and stiff a lot of the time, but I felt his accent, pitch, etc. were a great match for who Mario is (esp. in that show).
I don't know if Albano sound bites would've worked as well in gameplay, though....
@BradyHartel Let me add: I like Martinet as Game Mario but Mario has had numerous voices before Martinet came around.
Honestly, when I first played Mario 64, I felt his new voice was gimmicky and kind of annoying. He's grown on me, but I never loved it.
I mostly prefer Lou Albano's sound.*
@tigheklory@BacklogCabin@turfmasta Looks like it's only used on JP/Super Famicom XBANDs.
Found this auction for a complete-in-box one that shows the card in detail: https://t.co/7c59PVNygc
I don't know enough kanji to read the back in full, so I offer Google's version. (20° sounds wrong, maybe 20 credits/pts?)
