Update: I contacted a lawyer and spoke to my MP. Here’s hoping that this will take a turn for the better! 🙏🏽 I appreciate all your support and commiserations 🤗
@homeoffice_ukvi@DanielZeichner@JesusCollegeCam I am devastated by the news that my tourist visa to attend my PhD graduation @Cambridge_Uni has been rejected. I am the first in my family to achieve this milestone, and being denied after 5 years of study feels incredibly unjust.

My whole family, my fiance, and my job are all in Saudi Arabia. I am actually heartbroken. I sacrificed 9 years of time with my family to achieve this milestone and I can't even go celebrate it. This is discrimination.
The rejection stated that I am unlikely to leave the UK after being granted entry, when my whole family and my fiance do not even live there. If I wanted to remain, I could have done that via the graduate visa route-- but I didn't.
If you haven't already check out this brilliant interview between @ReemAbbas and the writer of 'I Will Not Fold These Maps' @monakareem !

Invested in language(s) AS WELL AS the broken, fragmented, unjust worlds through which they come to take their form and meaning, Reem’s work is brilliant and full of empathy; ‘The Tyranny of the Pomegranate’ published here: https://t.co/aA5duWkSzu
