We're voting on Sunday, and on top of the EU priorities should be the development of a Masterplan for Rail - one we propose in our new report "Railway to (consumer) heaven". Check it out!
👏 A win for our 🇪🇸 member @consumidores after filing a complaint. Ryanair, Easyjet, Vueling and Volotea fined €150m for abusive practices inc. extra charges for hand luggage or to sit next to an accompanying minor: https://t.co/sjbd7wjrkV
Thinking about your Summer getaway? 🏝️ When you book your holidays through prearranged packages you are protected by the Package Travel Directive (PTD).
The EU is working on revising this Directive and BEUC finds it to be a good first step towards better protection of consumers.
This is an important step. We had already identified issues with our #TikTokWithoutFilters action where we found the platform failed to protect children & teenagers from hidden advertising & potentially harmful content. And that was before the #DSA. ⬇️

From influence to responsibility! In the latest sweep by @EU_Consumer, only 1 in 5 influencers indicate that their content is ads; breaching consumer law. We need better enforcement, joint responsibility between actors, and a harmonised approach to disclose advertised contents.
Will the 🇪🇺 finally Better Protect Passengers & their Rights? Probably not.
The upcoming #PassengerRights initiative lacks ambition and blatant legal gaps remain, to the detriment of consumers!

Another airline ending its activities 👇. Another example that could heavily impact consumers. More than ever we need an insolvency scheme to ensure consumers aren't left to pick up the bill when airlines go under ✈️.

@CatalinaGoanta@beuc@sophiehbishop Thank you Catalina! Of course, I had to quote it because it's not a study, it's more like an influencer marketing bible that you and Sophie have produced! A must :) Thanks again for this huge work !
BEUC just sent an Open Letter to Commissioner for Transport Mrs Valean, asking her to finally run out the Sustainable & Smart Mobility Strategy to allow multimodal to emerge, to empower passengers to enforce their rights and to correct legal gaps between travellers rights! See👇
It must be easy to combine multiple operators or types of transport in a single booking. The European Commission's approach to new 'multimodal' travel rules and passenger rights for these situations however lacks ambition, we say in this letter: https://t.co/PsRA0345c0.
Final call for passenger @AdinaValean booked on Sustainable Mobility Strategy! Please proceed immediately. Your mandate to deliver European consumers with affordable & convenient sustainable mobility solutions is closing soon. Here @beuc 's concerns : https://t.co/VeWyxNMnKc
@LauraAade Funny indeed ! But if we want to be picky the tattoo is even non-compliant with the new FR regulation which mandates the use of “publicité” or “collaboration commerciale”… not sure he can be fined in this context though … 😃#oups
félicitations @UFCquechoisir@MelissaChvd ! Ce sont des décisions d'une grande importance pour le futur encadrement des pratiques des grandes plateformes technologiques !
Food industry pushing for 'the dematerialization of other relevant mandatory information' via digital labels
Esp for food products (usually bought in busy supermarkets), consumers don't have the time to play around with QR codes to find info which should be on the pack!
#EUConsumerSummit workshop on kids in digital, @DigitalEU admits there is a tension between biz model of platforms and best interests of children. "those things are designed to be sticky"... expect #DSA to be a game changer... that depends on enforcement appetite! just do it!
📣Our complaint against WhatsApp has now been closed with a commitment from the company to do better in the future...For us, this isn't good enough. Find out what it means #WhatsUpWithWhatsApp 👉 https://t.co/HZEf7J871u
Good news! The @Europarl_EN has voted to approve the @EP_SingleMarket report which calls for an 🇪🇺-wide approach on #lootboxes 🎮, further regulation and protection ‘by design’ for consumers. Also calls @EU_Commission to consider banning paid lootboxes if necessary 👏.
Consumers increasingly use online booking intermediaries to book travel. But...there's no law setting out responsibilities when travel is disrupted. Intermediaries & airlines use this legal gap to avoid reimbursing consumers. This must stop! Time to #ReThinkTravelRights. A 🧵...
Consumers want to combine different modes of transports. However, multi-modal shift will only work if technical conditions are met (payments, booking, data sharing...) and if consumers have clear, strong & enforceable passenger rights! See our proposals👇
Consumers increasingly combine different modes of transport when travelling for more sustainability & flexibility 🚉🛫. But...even if consumers buy a single ticket for their multi-modal journey they aren't fully protected if something goes wrong! Time to #ReThinkTravelRights...🧵
