🚨🚨 Never in history has there been a war in which 80% of the country was destroyed, 100% of the population displaced, and 50% of the deaths were children. Let's call it by its name: GENOCIDE.
A few highlights from an energizing #UNGA81 High-Level Week.
Important conversations. Bold ideas. A shared determination to build a stronger, more effective United Nations.
These exchanges reinforce the vision behind my candidacy: a UN that unites, acts and delivers.
Ready to turn ambition into results.

Over the years, I have participated in some twenty United Nations General Assembly High-Level Weeks in different capacities. This has been one of the most meaningful for me.
I had the opportunity to meet Heads of State and Government and ministers from a broad, representative range of countries across all UN regional groups, and to hear many national statements in person in the General Assembly Hall. I also met senior leaders of different faiths and participated in events convened by Member States and civil society on the margins of the Assembly.
These exchanges reinforced my central conviction that the United Nations is irreplaceable. It remains the center of global diplomacy and the universal platform for international cooperation. The intensity of this week reflected how much the world still expects from the UN, and how urgently we must strengthen its capacity to deliver.
I share my reflections on this week and the choices ahead. Instead of writing the UN’s obituary, we must start writing its next chapter. #UNGA81
Now it is official.
"In relation to Israels military operations in Gaza, we conclude that Israeli authorities are responsible for war crimes. Including extermination, murder, using starvation as a method of war, forcible transfer"

On the margins of #UNGA81, I joined the inaugural meeting of the Council on the Future of Global Education, co-chaired by Gordon Brown and Mohamed El-Erian. I am delighted to be part of the Council alongside colleagues including Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-General of the World Trade Organization; Catherine M. Russell, Executive Director of UNICEF; and Vera Songwe.
Education must remain a global priority even as budgets tighten and crises multiply. The Council can help build a stronger case for sustained investment while focusing on what children and young people need: access to learning, skilled teachers and the ability to navigate a changing world.
I look forward to working with fellow Council members to connect political leadership, evidence and financing in support of country-led solutions, especially where poverty, conflict and displacement put education most at risk. The future of education must be shaped with young people and measured by the opportunities they gain. @GordonBrown@elerianm@NOIweala@unicefchief@SongweVera
