@nickgerli1 Hotels are much better/cheaper for 3 or fewer days, and there are a lot of decent month-long options for much less than a monthly AirBnB… I feel like the real market for AirBnB is how many trips between 1-3 weeks long people plan to take, and it is way less than the supply
@paulg In-person work is important - but work culture needs a stronger bifurcation of what an in-person days looks like vs. a remote day.
Anyone who has been in a meeting that could have been an email, or participated in a Zoom happy hour can attest that the format should fit the task
@theamberyang Intellectual curiosity as a cultural norm is probably the toughest one to find.
Nature, and safety push toward smaller cities, and retail + entertainment push toward bigger. Any of… SF, Seattle, Portland, LA, Austin, and NY have a decent mix pending how you weigh the factors
Stories struggle to end happy without cheesy levels of perfect. Ted Lasso ended in the exact right way, and I’ll always have a warm spot in my heart for it. Thanks to the writers, cast and staff who made the show happen
At what age do male friendships turn into subtle one-ups-manship of financially questionable decisions?
I see your seldomly ridden motorcycle, and I raise you a boat and an outdoor pizza oven that I will use exactly twice per summer
@LinkedIn - can you please add a notes or context feature for connections? I just met an industry kin at a comedy show, connected, feel like I will forever forget that and future me will wonder why we’re connected
I love Spikeball and Pickleball so much because they are cheap and easy to jump into. I invite people in all day long.
Skiing, biking, surfing, foiling, etc are so expensive, it’s like convincing people to invest in a timeshare
@bchesky Review inflation is an issue - I think adding friction (e.g. must write something extra, or some limit) to leaving the highest, and lowest ratings might help people differentiate from a true 4.5+ and a polite 4.5+. Better on AirBnB than most platforms, but still an issue
@stats_feed There are a lot of incentives in Portugal to be considered a single parent in terms of government support. I would hypothesize that people continue to be partnered in Portugal and Spain, but not legally together because of that incentive structure.
@curious_founder@IDoTheThinking Related (sort of) - speeding tickets and toll roads should come with a weight multiplier. The amount of damage and road stress larger vehicles inflict is so much greater than standard passenger vehicles
