1) We will stop trusting historical footage soon.
The Internet Archive is a neutral party and closest to a complete archive. They can verify X historical video was uploaded before vid models existed.
One public "sealing" = widely sharing cryptographic hashes of all content. Everything in it is authoritative pre-AI history.
2) Labs need the same pre-AI footage for training, and would dedupe verification/scraping/storage efforts by teaming up on one existing database.

This is urgent, existential, and everyone benefits.
And the longer we wait to seal the archive, the more history risks corruption.

Large high quality FPSOs and LNG tankers are almost exclusively manufactured here.

Giant forged ingots >200 tons are mostly made in Japan and by this giant forge press.

The mirrors that allow ASML to do frontier EUV lithography are made by 1 machine.

China controls almost all the world's rare-earth magnets. Every EV motor on the road today needs one.
A few Indian teams decided not to fight that battle at all.
Chara Technologies is shipping 20kW reluctance motors: no rare earth, no magnet, no import dependency, with 45kW versions already in R&D and export orders coming in.
Vimag Labs has patented its own magnet-free motor platform and is running pilots with two- and three-wheeler makers.
Ola Electric certified its own in-house ferrite motor, built without the rare-earth magnets everyone assumes are non-negotiable.
There's still a gap to close: these motors give up some torque compared to rare-earth designs. Labs like IIT Madras and ARCI are working on it.
But the direction is clear: instead of racing China for a resource it controls, Indian companies are redesigning the machine so the resource doesn't matter.

Greg is right, I think many hyper specialized hardware products (think digital picture frames) are due to be disrupted by a few people shipping something driven by a simple ESP32. I got a few boards in last week and you can just tell AI what you want and get it. Weather monitor, air quality, whatever small display you want data on.
I also pulled an old Pi Zero 2 W I had and had Opus just make a touchscreen dashboard for my plotter for it. Touchscreen: $100, Pi Zero 2 W $15.
Most consumers won't vibe code their own ESP32 though, so I think packaging, marketing, and taste around shipping a product will be important. But it's not hard to make a million or more if you build the right product with 1-2 people.
