So the path of least resistance for matter would be moving to the place where spacetime is less expanded, where other matter has caused a depression. So spacetime would be pushing matter, rather than matter pulling other matter.

@skdh could gravity be explained as the momentum of matter resisting spacetime expansion? If spacetime is curved with respect to another dimension, and expanding, would that not explain why matter tends to follow the curvature created by other matter, i.e. gravity? Like this:
