It shouldn't be remotely controversial that the death of a man with his 3-year old daughter in the back seat who wasn't even the target of the mission is heartbreaking and must be investigated thoroughly. They dragged his lifeless body out of the car and still handcuffed him. ICE has lost any semblance of trust or respect. We must demand immediate change from top to bottom before more die unnecessarily. This is a moral imperative.
Black men and Black children deserve to grow old. Nolan Wells should be alive today.
My heart breaks for his family and loved ones, and I support their calls for an independent investigation.
One of the most jarring things about adulthood is the realization of how many truly incompetent people are in the most important jobs. When I was a kid, I just assumed everyone “important” was smart or they wouldn’t be important. Boy, was that fucking wrong.
One of the saddest things about Lindsey Graham is that we saw glimpses of his conscience. I actually liked him in 2016 when he went hard against Trump. And again after January 6, he heavily condemned the insurrection and Trump. He knew Trump was terrible for the country. He even told us that. But he always ended up supporting him, choosing power over morals. I imagine that had to be terrible to live with... knowing you're ignoring your conscience daily. Killing your own soul.
A lot of people support Trump out of ignorance. Lindsey wasn't that. He knew better and I grieve the person he could have been.
I hope Graham's passing will wake up other Republicans. Trump won't save you from death, but your support of him will ruin your legacy.
The greatest piece of political propaganda in our time was convincing millions of people that caring for others and the planet was somehow a threat to America.
So true. Texas will never really improve public education for the benefit of our children & grandchildren so long as @GregAbbott_TX is governor & @DanPatrick are in office. It’s an unfortunate fact of life of where we are politically in Texas right now.
I watched my cat play with a towel for 10 minutes and thought,
“Wow… it takes so little to make her happy.”
Then I realized I’d been watching her the entire time.
This is so weird. The Texas Education Agency took over Houston ISD, threw out the superintendent and school board members. Installed their own hand-picked superintendent and board members. Now, TEA is threatening to overhaul the district that they already took over. I feel bad for all the families in Houston ISD. They deserve better than this.
