The idea that “Money can’t buy happiness” is such a Baby Boomer concept. I don’t want extreme wealth for luxuries like a gold plated toilet seat, Karen. I just don’t want to be crying because I can’t afford both spaghetti and rent after working 40 hours a week.
Identical purchase at my local bakery last week versus today.
Last week: $9.50 plus a 13c surcharge.
Today: $9.80 with no surcharge.
The surcharge is gone but my total’s up 1.7%.
The big winner.... inflation.
Under Labor we have seen wages flat line, the rise of the far right and record war profits from fossil fuels going untaxed. We think these are ‘somewhat concerning’.
Why doesn't Labor work with the Greens to tax gas? Why doesn't Labor work with the Greens to build public housing? Why doesn't Labor work with the Greens to end AUKUS?
Greens are happy to be constructive about things that materially benefit the public. We are not a rubber stamp.
David Shoebridge is articulate, intelligent and cares for people, Australia, its sovereignty and the environment.
More than a match for the Sell Out Parties of Labor, the Liberals and One Nation.
We have seen them in action along with their lies.
Politics needs a new direction.
"People aren't interested in incrementalist politics and smart messaging."
- @DavidShoebridge on why so many of us are fed up with Anthony Albanese’s Labor Government.

Running a business in Australia is basically a tax subscription
Company tax: 25–30%
Personal income tax: up to 45%
Medicare levy: 2%
No private health cover? Extra 1–1.5%
Dividends all in: 47%
Hire someone and you pay 12% super on top of their wage. Then the state charges you payroll tax of up to 8.75%. On the wage AND on the super they forced you to pay.
Victoria still charges a COVID debt levy on payroll. It runs until 2033.
Give your staff a perk? 47% fringe benefits tax.
Save for retirement? 15% tax going into super. Earn over $250k and it's 30%. Have more than $3M in super and there's a brand new tax on your earnings from this July.
Then you spend what's left:
GST: 10%
Fuel: excise, then GST charged on the excise
Insurance in NSW: an emergency services levy, then GST on the levy, then 9% stamp duty on top of both
Buy a nice car: 33% luxury car tax
Leave the country: $70
And they wonder why everyone's moving to Dubai.
I SPEAK FOR EVERYONE WHEN I SAY WE ARE EXHAUSTED WATCHING PEOPLE WITH NOTHING AT STAKE MAKE CHOICES THAT RESHAPE MILLIONS OF LIVES, THEN WALK AWAY UNTOUCHED WHILE EVERYONE ELSE PAYS THE PRICE.
For everyone looking to us: we are ready to fight the billionaires, the big polluters, and everyone trying to divide us while hoarding wealth and power.
We are not here to manage a broken system. We are here to replace it.

I'm not an economist, but even I can see that we need more tools for dealing with inflation than "let's make everyone's mortgage more expensive". Because diesel is nearly $3/L again, home-brand butter is $14/kg and power bills continue to increase, even for people with solar.
If all they genuinely want is change, why not vote for the Greens, instead of One Nation? #4corners
Me thinks these voters just want to be allowed to be racist, or any other lazy easy non-solution they think up, that requires zero effort.
It's clear to Blind Freddy & his dog that Australia's inflation is caused by Trump's Iran war & the subsequent rise in fuel costs, driving higher cost of goods.
The RBA can increase interest rates until kingdom come but until the Hormuz Strait opens, it's all piss & wind.
