When Rarity Becomes a Curse
In the world of exotic plants, rarity = status. From ghost orchids to living stones, collectors are willing to pay big money to own the worldโs rarest and most unusual species.
๐น But that demand fuels a dangerous chain of events:
๐น Wild populations are poached, sometimes entirely wiped out
๐น Plants are smuggled across borders, often mislabelled as โnursery-grownโ
๐น Many die before reaching buyers, and those that survive rarely return to the wild
๐ This is why the Illegal Plant Trade Coalition is stepping up. Weโre raising awareness, strengthening monitoring, and encouraging responsible plant trade practices starting with you! #ThinkTwiceTradeRight

Today, on Day 2 of the G20 ECSWG Dialogue, discussions focused on Mitigation strategies and the global imperative of Loss & Damage. Panellists examined opportunities for scaling decarbonisation while addressing the financial, legal, and human dimensions of climate impacts. #G20SouthAfrica
