This is the latest guidance from @HealthAllegheny as cases continue to increase across the county. Please wear your mask and avoid unnecessary public trips if possible.
Bogen issues a stay at home advisory, urging people to stay home save for necessities like groceries and medical care. “County residents are expected to follow this advisory.” Says if people don’t heed the advisory and cases continue to rise, she will issue official orders.
Today @SecretaryLevine announced targeted efforts to control the spread of #COVID19 in Pennsylvania, including:
▪️ Issuing memo to acute care hospital CEOs/CMOs outlining opportunity to work collaboratively + expectations if they don’t to ensure health systems can provide care
This is extremely serious and troubling. Hospitalizations are also increasing, as are deaths. Don't allow fatigue to make you complacent. Please wear your mask. Avoid gatherings, and consider stopping non-essential trips.
The @PAHealthDept reported 5,488 new positive cases of coronavirus on Thursday, the first time #Pennsylvania has seen over 5,000 new cases in a day.

Some local news – my office helped secure close to $1.1 million for local water/sewer projects, including replacing water lines more than a century old in West View. These projects make sure families have clean drinking water, and help the environment.

We’ve asked a lot of our business community, and their sacrifices have been critical in slowing the spread of the coronavirus. Businesses have done their part, and this could help them stay afloat or re-capitalize as we move to reopen our economy.

Some welcome news to share. Today Governor Tom Wolf announced that next week Allegheny County will be moving from ‘red’ to ‘yellow’ status. This will include a loosening of some of the restrictions we have been under for the last several weeks. Stay safe!
Important information for gig, self-employed and contract workers. As of this morning PA Department of Labor & Industry says the PUA system is fully functioning and people who have been approved can file their weekly claims.
This emergency funding could help those most in need, who I fear could slip through the cracks during this crisis. I strongly encourage all our communities in Allegheny Co. to look at this program, talk with their community partners, & consider applying.

National Nurses Day today is especially poignant given current events. It also's also personal - my wife is a nurse. I want to thank her and all of those on the front lines of this for their help and service. I know times are tough, but we will pull through this -- together.
