State Representative for OR House District 52. Educator, community leader, former social worker, and a mom who brings people together to make a real difference.
As a reminder for applicants who don't qualify for the OERAP, their landlords may still be eligible for the Landlord Guarantee Program info found at https://t.co/DHURmhzB4b.
If you need rental assistance as a result of the pandemic, it’s not too late to apply for The Oregon Emergency Rental Assistance Program (OERAP) – but it will be soon! The application is at https://t.co/ZZm38c4q0v, and the deadline is 11:59pm next Monday, March 14.
Today we adjourned what will be my final legislative session. It’s a bittersweet day for me. On one hand, I’m deeply proud of the work we did this session, which will help countless Oregonians in need and continue our state’s ongoing economic recovery.
But, of course, I’m very sad to say goodbye to the House chamber, to have heard what may be my last floor debate, and to have walked out of the Capitol for possibly the last time as HD 52’s State Representative.
That’s why I’m working with @JasonForBend to pass HB 4123, a bill to build coordinated homelessness response through partnerships with cities, counties, and local communities.
This session, we’re investing millions of dollars to reduce homelessness and increase access to affordable housing. As a former social worker and a social work policy professor, I know we need to lead with empathy and invest in evidence-based solutions.
We will also make key investments in energy efficiency, behavioral health, public safety, homelessness, education, workforce development, and human services…all important areas of focus after a difficult two years. #orpol#orleg
I’m very proud of the important policies House Democrats are poised to pass this session, but the most encouraging thing we’re doing is focusing on rural Oregon and collaborating across the aisle. https://t.co/9pryB4WkYS
We’re working with our Republican colleagues to fund infrastructure and services in rural areas, and I’m very excited about this renewed sense of bipartisan cooperation.
This is an important step toward improving Oregonians’ access to care. After all, if a person graduating with a Master’s or an advanced professional license can make more at a coffee shop than they can as a caregiver, something is seriously wrong! #orleg#orpol
Oregonians deserve easy access to behavioral health care. But the people who provide those services often don’t make decent or even livable wages, even though they do essential and high-risk work.
House Bill 4012, which I passed through the House unanimously yesterday, is a step toward fixing that problem. It directs state agencies to review and reconsider how some service providers are compensated, to make sure those jobs are competitive in the market.
If you’re looking for great gift ideas that will support our regional Columbia Gorge economy, consider buying any Gorge residents, Portlanders, or Vancouverites in your life a GorgePass, for all their mass transit needs. https://t.co/Uk0G4BFaIn
Thanks to the Oregon Lions Sight & Hearing Foundation for inviting me to help administer vision screenings at Westside Elementary today. It was such a delight! These screenings are crucial for student success. Lions Clubs have done so much good for our communities over the years.
In conversations about police reform, my social work instincts are to encourage cooperation instead of division. That’s why I cosponsored HB 2575, to help law enforcement officers understand and address trauma in themselves & in the people they encounter.

Join me at 6pm tonight at https://t.co/E2Sp8rxE3N for my November Virtual Town Hall! I’ll be discussing two of my priorities for the 2022 session, both of which are geared toward helping prevent and address child abuse in Oregon.
It was a pleasure to get a tour of Duckwall’s incredible pear packing facility, to talk to their management team about state regulatory policy, and to get this photo op in front of the awesome Duckwall sign that I’ve only ever seen from the road.
Oregon has committed almost all of its share of federal emergency rental assistance funding, and the state will pause applications for those funds on December 1st. If you need help paying your rent, apply in the next two weeks if you haven’t already! https://t.co/9LdNR2fmQu
Telehealth has been essential during the pandemic. That’s why I supported HB 2508, which reimburses telemedicine services at the same rates as in-person visits. This has been key to expanding access in Oregon. #orleg#orpol#mentalhealth#telemedicine https://t.co/QzPCODqw16
