Today, more than $3.76 M in state grants were awarded for community improvements throughout our area. This is yet another example of the tens of millions of dollars that I have worked to secure during my tenure in Harrisburg.

During National Safe Boating Week from May 16-22, I’m reminding boaters to wear a life jacket, never boat while intoxicated, have a float plan to let someone know where and when they'll be boating, check the weather forecast before and during each boating trip.

As it stands currently, private schools have the ability to draw in students from a wider area than traditional public schools, which can greatly influence the talent pool.
I’m in full support of giving the PIAA and Pa. Athletic Oversight Committee the option to establish separate athletic playoffs and championships for public schools and private schools.

Fire companies play a crucial role in our society. The Fire Company Transformational Grant program aims to invest in these companies to ensure their long-term sustainability.
Let us all strive to accept, embrace, support, and accommodate those with autism. We also should work to ensure equitable opportunities and listen to the needs of the autism community.

Read Across America Week is all about encouraging a love of reading in our students, and celebrating the role literature plays in helping kids learn and grow. I was so glad to share a live reading of “Maybe” by Kobi Yamada with Old Forge’s sixth graders for Guest Reader Day.
This year, Pittston chose John “Casey” Donahue, whose lifelong commitment to public service and community involvement exemplifies the very spirit of the parade, to be this year’s Grand Marshal of the Saint Patrick’s Day Parade!
