Today I'm reminded of my visit to Westport Prairie with @RepJoers this time last year to learn more about restoration efforts at the historic Empire Prairie. Wisconsin’s natural beauty is worth protecting, and we must continue investing in conservation efforts across our state.
“Two things happen: They can either shift that cost onto parents, or they say, ‘I’m not willing to do that. I’m going to close my doors.’ And I think both of those things are happening,” said state Rep. Alex Joers, D-Waunakee, who has been a childcare advocate in the Legislature.
Assembly Democrats show up to work every day focused on doing right by the communities we represent. That meant each of us had to make a difficult decision this week.
The bipartisan group of legislators, stakeholders, and agency partners that worked to get this done should be proud of the accomplishment, but it is clear we have more work to do. For many, clean water is still not accessible. Let’s use this momentum to continue to get results.
Protect Our Water 🌊
For over a year, my colleagues and I have been working to find a compromise to release over $100 million to address PFAS in our state. Today, @govevers put the pen to paper signing into law the bills that would do just that.
It shouldn't have taken this long but with one final collective effort we got it done. Now the work continues until WI is the healthiest state in the nation and no one goes bankrupt or goes without health care because of cost. This is what making life a little better looks like.
This week Postpartum Medicaid Extension and Gail's Law became the law of the land in Wisconsin! Thank you to the hundreds of constituents who never stopping fighting for women's health care and these two proposals.
Investing in kids and lowering property taxes are two of our top priorities. We can’t finish the session without making these needed investments.
This is a responsible and common sense proposal and we should get it done.
During an extended recess of Wednesday's Assembly floor session, Speaker @repvos and Majority Leader @TylerAugust left the Capitol to attend a "thank you reception" hosted by Jobs First Coalition.

I am a proud signatory of this letter to the Speaker Robin Vos which urges him to bring AB 263, Gail’s Law, to the floor for vote.
Gail’s Law ensures women have access to breast cancer screenings without the fear of financial strain. Early cancer detection saves lives!
I was proud to sign onto this letter urging Republican leadership to bring Gail’s Law (AB 263 / SB 264) to the Assembly floor for a vote.
No one should have to skip lifesaving breast cancer screenings because of cost. This bipartisan bill deserves a vote.
While Republican legislators are pushing their bigotry and culture wars, Assembly Democrats are focused on the real issues that matter to the people like lowering costs and improving the quality of life for all Wisconsinites!
PC: Office of Rep. Vining
I’m proud to serve on the Assembly Committee on Veterans and Military Affairs. I will always advocate for our veterans, service members, and their families. And I’m not afraid to call out and hold Republicans accountable when they disrespect and act against our veteran community.

Patient access to medication is NOT partisan. We urge Rep. Clint Moses and the WI Assembly Health Committee to take up #ColesAct AB 173/SB 203 after the WI Senate Health Committee unanimously passed the bill. Please support patient access! https://t.co/ZpVxzAZOOR
