My favorite part was listening to the Kellogg Intermediate Band students (in 7th and 8th grade) playing fun upbeat pop songs to welcome the incoming 6th graders on their first day. β€οΈπ·πΆ
Wishing everyone a great first week Back to School! It was great to stop by Lent Elementary, Kellogg Middle, and Franklin High School yesterday with PPS Board Chair Eddie Wang, who represents SE Portland Zone 7.
I hope to see you at the next roadshow stops - we'll be visiting Coos Bay on August 7th and Medford on August 8.
Hope to see you there - virtual testimony will be taken at both hearings, so don't hesitate to sign up and have your voice heard. #orleg
Last week, the Transportation 2025 roadshow visited Albany and Eugene. Both urban and rural communities struggle to find the resources for the most basic maintenance to our roads and bridges, and traffic fatalities are on the rise on local streets and state highways alike. #orleg
In a time where our national politics feel so divisive it's been deeply affirming to hear everyday Oregonians from different backgrounds show up to testify and speak passionately and persuasively about a shared need for investing in the well-being of Oregonians across our state.
This is fantastic news. I'm thrilled to see @PBOTInfo introduce this exciting pilot project to reduce the urban heat island and create greater tree canopy in the Lents neighborhood. #climateresilience

Political violence is absolutely unacceptable and destructive to a functioning democracy. Regardless of party or political views, our country must remain a place where we can all live in peace together. I am praying for healing for all involved and for our nation.

I'm very excited to attend the grand reopening of the Holgate Library, now 3 times its original size! Please join us for three days of free, fun-filled community events to celebrate. See library page for more details: https://t.co/LRQHVWRROh
@PBOTinfo@ROSECDC @OregonWalks @crestonpta As this story by @opb's @nataliepategwin shows, communities across the state of Oregon are clamoring for more crosswalks, sidewalks, and bike paths that make it easier for families to walk and bike their kids to school. Let's make it so next year!

@PBOTinfo@ROSECDC @OregonWalks @crestonpta Bike bus rides give me so much appreciation for the parents and families in our community, and leaves me energized to work with advocates, educators and my colleagues to fight for this vision of a network of safer streets to schools, for parents and students alike.
@PBOTinfo@ROSECDC @OregonWalks @crestonpta Families across the state deserve similar investments for safer ways to bike and walk to school.
The wildly successful Safe Routes to School program established in HB 2017 must be expanded in next year's transportation package to fully meet the statewide need. #orleg#orpol
Last year I worked with PBOT to direct federal funding to build crosswalks, ADA curb ramps, and other safety improvements.
Thanks to @pbotinfo Dir Williams, @ROSECDC, @oregonwalks, @crestonpta and other community members for joining us last month for a safer streets celebration.
As I witnessed firsthand during the BIPOC legislative tour, much more needs to be done . It's critical we rally to ensure every resident has access to clean, safe drinking water. Let's keep pushing for the emergency response this crisis demands. #CleanWaterForAll
I commend Governor Tina Kotek taking stronger action to address the nitrate crisis in the Lower Umatilla Basin. Decades of inaction and continued pollution have created one of the worst environmental catastrophes in Oregon's history.

I loved Jane's book "Raising Expectations (and Raising Hell)" which sharpened my understanding of truly transformative, as opposed to transactional, organizing. She never stopped fighting for worker power and global justice. Rest in Power, Jane McAlevey! https://t.co/5gBqZ2W8Q2
