Husband. Father. Pap. Representative for PA's 92nd Legislative District. Fighting for liberty, limited government, and the vision of our Founding Fathers.
Gov. Shapiro gave his Budget Address today, and he said he'd like to increase spending by $2.72 billion, for a total of $53.26 billion. Pennsylvania families will suffer the consequences of Gov. Shapiro’s fiscal recklessness long after he is gone. #PA92#UncommonInsanity
We're in session this week in the run-up to the annual state budget deadline. Gov. Shapiro is proposing the most expensive budget in state history, and soon, taxpayers will foot the bill. #PA92#UncommonInsanity#NoNewTaxes
Governor Shapiro’s budget would raise taxes and make life even more expensive than it already is. Your family can’t afford it, and that’s why I’ll be fighting against it next month in Harrisburg. #PA92#UncommonInsanity#NoNewTaxes
We passed legislation that would allow PIAA to create separate playoff divisions for public and non-public schools. I spoke in support of HB 41 because it would level the playing field and ensure that our kids have the opportunity to compete for championships. #PA92#KidsFirst
We considered a bill that would commission a study evaluating whether the SAT/ACT could be used as alternatives to the Keystones for high schoolers. I offered an amendment to this bill that would eliminate the study and replace the Keystone Exams with these assessments. #PA92
The House Education Committee advanced a bill yesterday that would require a bell-to-bell school cell phone ban. I am fully supportive of a ban, but had some concerns about exceptions for IEPs and 504s included in the bill. #PA92
We debated a bill in the Ed committee that would require yet another training for our teachers. As an epileptic, I know what it’s like to experience seizures. But requiring our teachers to be trained to respond to every medical condition places too heavy a burden on them. #PA92
We considered legislation today that would essentially legally allow men in our girls bathrooms. When House Democrats tried to claim this bill did no such thing, I had to take them back to the classroom. #PA92
Mental health challenges are real, but this bill would create another burden for our coaches and educators, in addition to opening them up to lawsuits. Watch excerpts from my remarks on the floor yesterday in opposition to this bill. #PA92 (2/2)
We voted on a bill yesterday that would make school coaches and extracurricular advisors liable for failing to refer students who demonstrate an “observable change in behavior” to mental health support. (1/2)
Yesterday in the Ed Committee, we heard testimony from witnesses about the EITC and its benefits for students. Hear from Paulo Nzambi, CEO of @imanipgh, about the incredible work they do for underserved kids in Pittsburgh — work funded in part because of the EITC. #KidsFirst
Once again, we debated a minimum wage bill in the House. Not only are some of my colleagues basic math scores below basic, but it appears that so are their basic economics scores. #PA92
Yesterday in the Ed Committee we considered a bill intended to increase the number of school nurses by changing the nurse to student ratio. There’s only one problem: there is no penalty in the bill if schools do not comply with the new ratio. #PA92
Gov. Shapiro's proposed budget of $53.26 billion is fiscally foolish. He wants the state to spend $6.8 billion more than we bring in. Your family wouldn't spend more than your income, and our government shouldn't either. #PA92#UncommonInsanity#NoNewTaxes
Governor Shapiro is either out of touch or thinks you can't do basic math. His irresponsible budget hikes will require a major increase in revenue that can only be obtained through higher taxes. #PALeg#UncommonInsanity
@SpotlightPA "This budget doesn't raise taxes — in fact, it continues to cut taxes," Shapiro says. "And it doesn't require a broad-based tax increase today, tomorrow, or at any point in the next five years." Mhm.
It's #NationalSchoolChoiceWeek! I'm touring different types of schools across Pennsylvania to showcase how many choices our students have here in the Commonwealth. It is critical that we provide access to education that best fits the needs of our kids. Stay tuned! #KidsFirst
Humbled to announce that I have been appointed to the @PA_PSERS board to replace former Rep. Ecker. Read statements from Leader Topper and I below. #PALeg#PA92
