Happy 100th Birthday to UPMC Hanover Hospital! In late October 1926, then Hanover General Hospital opened its doors to receive patients. THANK YOU to the dedicated physicians, nurses, and staff, have provided trusted medical care over the past century to the families who call this region home. I appreciated the opportunity to present CEO Michael Gaskins with remarks entered into the Congressional Record to mark this milestone anniversary and tour their facilities this week.

Great day in Manheim last week!

I enjoyed starting our visits with a luncheon and conversation with local elected officials from northern Lancaster County at Twisted Sisters Ice Cream and Handmade Chocolates, alongside State Rep. Mindy Fee.

We also visited Stiegel Glassworks 1976, Glasshouse Wineworks, and REO Manheim Marketplace, three local businesses that showcase Manheim’s unique character, rich history, and vibrant downtown.

Thank you to everyone who welcomed us! It’s always a pleasure to spend time with the people and small businesses helping our communities thrive.

Congratulations to the 35 newest American citizens from 16 different countries who took the Oath of Allegiance yesterday in York County!

A special congratulations to the Charles family, who our office had the privilege of assisting with a matter before U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

Becoming an American citizen is a meaningful milestone, and we wish all of our newest fellow Americans the very best as they begin this exciting new chapter!

Decisions on when to claim Social Security shouldn’t be made more confusing by government terminology.

My bipartisan Claiming Age Clarity Act has passed Congress and is headed to the President’s desk.

It will help Americans better understand their retirement benefits.

House Budget Committee Vice Chair @RepSmucker joins Hoover Visiting Fellow @DrBrian4Health on the 584 Vetoes podcast to talk debt, deficits, and a fiscal commission.

The federal government now pays more than $1 trillion a year just in interest payments. Miller and Rep. Smucker discuss three ways to get the nation's fiscal house back in order: faster growth, lower spending, and more revenue. Smucker says it will take all three.

$40 trillion in debt. More than $1 trillion a year just to pay the interest.

We know this path is unsustainable. The question is whether we choose to act now.

I joined the 584 Vetoes podcast to discuss the case for a bipartisan fiscal commission and a path toward getting our fiscal house in order.

61 historic artifacts connected to President James Buchanan’s family are back with their rightful owners.

These items had come to the Pennsylvania Treasury as unclaimed property, and yesterday I joined @PATreasurer at LancasterHistory for their return to the Buchanan family.

Thank you, Treasurer Garrity, for your tremendous work to return unclaimed property to Pennsylvanians across our Commonwealth.

[National Taxpayers Union @NTU]

GOOD NEWS! Seniors will now have more straightforward communication when making decisions about Social Security. The Claiming Age Clarity Act is going to the President's desk and will help seniors make decisions to receive permanently higher monthly benefits.

NTU is proud to have included this commonsense fix in last year's No-Brainer list of bills Congress should pass immediately.

Congrats to the bill's sponsor, @RepSmucker! https://t.co/QeBowXDthM

[Rep. Lloyd Smucker @RepSmucker]

Thank you to my colleague and lead sponsor of the legislation in the Senate, @SenBillCassidy, for his leadership on this bill!

[Rep. Lloyd Smucker @RepSmucker]

🚨The Senate has passed bipartisan and commonsense legislation I’ve introduced with @RepDonBeyer to help America’s seniors make informed decisions when deciding to claim their Social Security benefits. The bill will now be sent to President Trump for his signature.

249 years ago today, Lancaster served as the capital of our young nation for one day.

On September 27, 1777, the Continental Congress convened in Lancaster after fleeing Philadelphia as British forces advanced. After meeting here, delegates traveled across the Susquehanna River to York, where Congress continued its work during a pivotal chapter of the American Revolution.

As we celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, we’re proud to remember the important role our communities played in our nation’s founding.

That means more investment, more growth, and better-paying jobs for Americans. 🇺🇸

Washington can debate whether it's a spending problem or a revenue problem.

It's a math problem.

We take in $5 trillion and spend $7 trillion. It's time to confront our nation's fiscal challenges and put America on a better trajectory.
