PA State Representative (HD-29), husband, dad, first generation college graduate, grew up waiting tables, small business owner (x2), attorney for working people
The committee approved this bipartisan effort which I’ve undertaken with Rep. Natalie Mihalek and H.B. 2049 is now eligible for consideration by the full House.
I testified recently before the #PaHouse Labor & Industry Committee about my legislation that would increase the amount of the worker compensation burial benefit granted to the surviving family of an employee in PA who suffers a fatal work injury.
The law should protect the dignity of grieving families who experience this tragedy, so I propose increasing this compensation from where it is now at only $7,000 to meet the actual burial cost in PA which averages $20,000.
Hosting my annual Disability Fair is a highlight for me every year! Thank you to everyone who came out & for those that couldn’t, please contact my office to find out how we can serve you!

PA's community colleges play a vital role in preparing 1st responders with the skills they need to address emergencies, but they face a pervasive issue:
During a @PA_HouseApprops#pabudget hearing, I spoke with the PA State System of Higher Education & PA Commission for Community Colleges about my proposal with Rep. Kristin Marcell (R-Bucks) to establish dedicated funding for community colleges to support these programs.
Schools are the groundwork for a democratic culture, so when I spoke with DOE Sec. Carrie Rowe during the House Appropriations Committee #pabudget hearing,I urged the department to increase state support & incentives for schools & educators to implement a robust civics curriculum
I had the chance to express my gratitude for PennDOT District 6 staff during the #pabudget hearing for PennDOT and commend Sec. Mike Carroll for the agency’s success with addressing unique challenges in their broad scope of work.
We spoke about strategies for attracting workers to staff PennDOT district offices like ours that are having difficulty maintaining adequate staff levels.
I also asked him about the success of the Disaster Recovery Assistance Program first authorized by the General Assembly in 2023 to step in when federal recovery funding isn't available.
I spoke with @PEMAHQ Director Randy Padfield during the agency’s @PAHouseApprops #PaBudget hearing about the status of possible revisions to Title 35, the code that stipulates emergency management standards for every municipality in PA.

At our #PaBudget hearing with @PADCEDnews, I spoke with Sec. Siger about the incentives/challenges surrounding the development of the biotech industry in our region, including how company leaders look at infrastructure & public transportation. https://t.co/vUT8y1Ag22
A good starting point, now it's time for the legislature to get to work fine tuning the plan. I’ll be part of that process as a member of House Appropriations – our budget hearings with the leaders of each state agency, department, and commission begin at the end of February.
Gov. Shapiro delivered a great #PaBudget proposal focused on important areas like education, economic growth, and public safety.

Merry Christmas! I’m reminded this time of year of Louisa May Alcott’s words: “Christmas is the season for kindling the fire of hospitality in the hall, the genial flame of charity in the heart.”
May this season bring peace, connection, & moments of joy to our homes & community.
