Make sure you, your family, and your neighbors are aware of your rights in the event of an encounter with an ICE agent or another immigration enforcement agency.
Reckless behavior from an unhinged president.
Instead of ending his war in Iran, Trump is openly cheering on violence against the hardworking families who make Los Angeles special.
Angelenos are not expendable. I will continue fighting to protect our city and our neighbors against Trump.

Happy World Teachers’ Day! 🍎
Teachers inspire curiosity and support students to reach their full potential. Thank you to teachers across the San Fernando Valley for your dedication and commitment to serving our students!
I will continue working in Congress to support our teachers and the important work they do in educating the next generation.
The Trump Administration is spending $950 MILLION to buy ICE detention centers in California, including Adelanto.
Let's be clear: This is a move by the Trump Administration to hide from any accountability and oversight from California while ICE continues to inflict harm on our most vulnerable.
ICE must held accountable for the inhumane conditions detainees are experiencing at Adelanto and across the country.

I wear green in support of Mental Illness Awareness Week.
Mental health struggles impact 1 in 4 people in the U.S. In Congress, I am working with my colleagues on bills that support and expand mental health resources for all.
If you are struggling, know that you’re not alone. Call, text, or chat 988 if you are experiencing a mental health crisis. Help is available.
This month is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. 🩷
I stand with the brave survivors and those who are still fighting every day.
Early detection saves lives. Schedule your early screenings and remind your loved ones to get theirs.
This week is Fire Safety Week!
As climate change makes wildfires deadlier in California, it is important for communities to be prepared.
To help the San Fernando Valley prepare for wildfires, I secured $850,000 in federal funds to help open a second fire station in Sylmar, and $968,000 for renovations to L.A. County Fire Department’s Pacoima Warehouse to provide lifesaving supplies and tools.
Visit my website for resources to help you and your family prepare for emergencies.
This week, @RepEscobar and I led 45 of our colleagues in calling for ICE to rescind its cruel policy that makes it harder for detainees to be reached by their families or legal counsel.
The Trump Administration must be held accountable for the trauma it continues to inflict on immigrant communities.
This week's #RivasRewind ⏪
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. 💜
1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men in the United States experience domestic violence in their lifetime. Domestic violence can happen to anyone and is never the victim or survivor’s fault.
If you or someone you know is struggling or needs help, call or text the Domestic Violence Hotline at 800-799-7233 for free and confidential support. Help is available.

Happy 136th birthday, Yosemite! Yosemite National Park is one of the most iconic landmarks, showcasing the incredible natural beauty we have right here in California.
My colleagues and I are urging the Trump Administration to STOP the transfer of public land in Yosemite National Park for private access and development. Our national parks are public for all of us to enjoy and appreciate, not up for sale to the highest bidder.
To continue my celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, I visited Best Frame, a Latino-owned framing business in North Hollywood. I learned from Mirta and Julio Cruz, the owners, about the frame making process they have been using for nearly 30 years. Thank you for inviting me and thank you for your important contribution to our community.
Make sure you are following me on social media and are subscribed to my newsletter to see how I am celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month across the San Fernando Valley!
And if you are a small business owner, call my office at (818) 253-3535 to get connected to federal resources!
🚨BREAKING🚨
@RepEscobar and I are leading 45 of our @HouseDemocrats colleagues in demanding ICE restore transparency in its detainee locator system.
@AP's report on ICE removing detainees from their online detainee locator system is angering for so many.
The Trump Administration must be held accountable for denying access to legal counsel and shielding detainees' whereabouts from loved ones.

Grocery stores like Superior Grocers in Pacoima are a vital part of our community.
I spoke with the workers, many of whom have been working at Superior for decades.
In Congress, I will continue working with my colleagues to lower the cost of groceries, while supporting the local grocers that serve our communities.
I secured $250,000 in federal funding for the City of Los Angeles Department of Public Works’ Shaded School Routes Project to improve pedestrian safety and accessibility in Reseda.
This federal funding will go towards planting trees, improving landscaping, building accessible street crossings, and strengthening pedestrian and public transit infrastructure.
These improvements will make Reseda safer, greener, and easier to get around. I look forward to continuing my work in Congress to bring even more funding to the San Fernando Valley.
I visited the Whiteman Airport Air Traffic Control Tower in Pacoima to meet with officials to discuss air traffic control operations taking place in the San Fernando Valley.
I will continue working with the FAA and local leaders to make sure safety remains a top priority, that concerns from our community are heard, and that all necessary protocols are taken to ensure air safety across the region.
Utility Refrigerator in North Hollywood has been family-owned and operated for nearly 100 years!
I met with the owners where I learned about the jobs and internships they provide to San Fernando Valley residents. They also showed me how they create made-to-order pieces in their warehouse before they get shipped across the country.
If you are a small business owner and need assistance with a federal agency, call my office at (818) 253-3535.
My @NRDems colleagues and I are demanding answers from @Interior@SecretaryBurgum about the Administration's plans to use our public lands for massive data center projects.
The Trump Administration has made no effort to give the public a say in these plans – only industry executives.
Public lands belong to all Americans, and all Americans deserve to be heard in how our public lands, waters, and resources are developed.
