As members of the Presidential Community Engagement Team, my colleague and I dedicated to ensuring that the voices of local communities are heard paid a working visit to His Excellency Sen (Engr) David Nweze Umahi, the Honorable Minister of Works.
During our meeting, we emphasized the importance of establishing a strategic partnership aligned with the ministry's policy of "Community Relations," particularly focusing on the maintenance of motorable roads in communities across the nation throughout contractual periods in line with the Presidents renewed Hope Agenda.
Through our ongoing collaboration with the Ministry of Works, we are committed to advocating for community-centric approaches to infrastructure development and maintenance. By amplifying the voices of local stakeholders, we aim to ensure that their needs are addressed, and their voices are heard at every level of government as mandated by the President. #presidentsentme #onegoal
In line with the president's agenda to enhance agricultural practices and boost food productivity in the country, diversifying the economy, moving away from total reliance in crude oil, we embarked on a visit to a palm oil-producing facility in Idjerhe, Delta State, to gain valuable insights into the challenges faced by this vital sector. For centuries, the fertile soils of the Niger Delta have grown large palm trees, their bountiful fruits harvested by skilled hands to yield the liquid gold that once fueled our nation's prosperity, a testament to its pivotal role in shaping our economy and cultural heritage.
Today, palm oil remains a cornerstone of our agricultural landscape as Nigeria currently produces 1.4million metric tons of domestic palm oil production up from 850 thousand metric tons in 2009, significant growth but still we have a supply gap of up to 500,000 metric tons, highlighting both the potential and challenges facing the industry. However, inefficiencies in processing technology have plagued the sector, resulting in significant oil losses. Currently, up to 50% of the oil that is possible from the palm fruits is lost, that is over 600million nominal dollars using the current price of 815 dollars per ton, underscoring the urgent need for modernization and innovation.
Initiatives are underway to bolster the palm oil sector and empower farmers with easy access to loans and levy free importation of agricultural machinery. We’re confident that with the introduction of mechanized farming practices, these numbers are set to soar, exponentially increasing production capacity and enhancing efficiency. With these strategic interventions, we are poised to unleash the full potential of Nigeria's palm oil industry, driving economic growth, and fostering prosperity across our land.

Awolowo was detained in Lekki during his trial in the 60s. The choice of lekki was to discourage his teeming supporters from paying solidarity visits to him since Lekki was completely waterlogged and you would need a canoe to move. Although, this didn't discourage Awolowo's supporters, they trooped out and there was sea of heads moving and singing AG's Anthem on the water.
Today, Tinubu has turned Lekki to one of the best city settlements in Africa where elites struggle to live.
WELCOME TO LAGOS PRESIDENT BOLA AHMED TINUBU ❤️
