What does it take to build health systems that truly work for girls and young women?
Not isolated programs but aligned leadership, shared accountability, and real collaboration. That is the vision behind the Her Health Initiative, officially launched yesterday.
This @MOH_Kenya and @NCPD_Kenya–led initiative, supported by @rhnkorg and the @ReproRightsAFR, brings together government and technical partners to strengthen systems that serve girls and young women and ensure services reach those most often left behind.
The launch brought together remarkable voices: @DrAbeySheikh (NCPD), @DrPatrickAmoth (MOH), @nellymunyasia, Elsy Sainna (CRR) , @KuyaJohnstone (Embassy of the Netherlands), @leylaAbu (Youth Voices & Action Initiative), and Dr. Richard Amenya (UNAIDS). A powerful panel featuring Mary Wandia, Charity Karunya, Hon. Lady Justice Hellen Omondi, and Julius Mbeya drove home the importance of sustainable financing, accountability, and community-rooted solutions.
Partners including @ippf, @UNFPA, @ICRWAfrica, @girleffect, Amref International University and county leadership from Garissa, Homa Bay, Samburu, Tana River & West Pokot reflected the national-to-county coordination this work demands.
Progress in sexual, reproductive, and maternal health cannot happen in silos. When institutions align, systems grow stronger and girls and young women get closer to the care, dignity, and opportunities they deserve.
