A final thank you to everyone who volunteered to take part, those who spread the word, RT'd and offered advice to support my doctoral thesis journey. Unfortunately I am no longer recruiting participants but will use this profile to share parts of my research where I can. ❤️

So pleased to say that @ResearchinBWDS passed her viva yesterday! Jana's thesis explores the contextual identities of first-generation Black women doctoral students studying in the UK and it is an amazing, important piece of work @UoMCounsPsych

Missing 2-year-old Wynter Cole Smith has been found dead on the Detroit’s east side ( Detroit). Her body was found in an alley.
There are over 100,000 missing Black women and girls in America.
Finding them doesn’t receive a fraction of the news coverage, resources, or efforts expended to rescue 5 white billionaires that went missing in a submarine.

As a teacher in this UK, I braid my hair in solidarity with Black children who face discrimination in school for wearing protective & natural hair styles.
To the staff in UK schools, who see Black children and their hair as a problem - this foolishness needs to stop.
The salary of a PhD student in many European countries is now higher than the typical starting salary of a UK lecturer, with a postdoc in Europe often surpassing a UK lecturer salary. Meanwhile, some top UK depts now require a published monograph for entry-level positions (1/2)
Thank you Sergio.
Such a lovely day so far with @POWES_BPS. Such a thought-provoking day and personally a useful academic challenge. Dare I say that I can see why we are encouraged to do it ... 🫣
My research explores the ways in which first generation (in education & their family) Black women doctoral students studying in the UK describe their identity and wellbeing, and their wellbeing in relation to their contextual identities.
Hope to see you there!
I will be presenting my analysis at the @POWES_BPS conference. Unfortunately I will not have time to explore all of my themes but over the coming weeks I will share snippets of my themes and subthemes where possible!
