Yvette Cooper said the UK will discourage trade with illegal settlements on West Bank but said it is hard to enforce a ban and ministers need time to investigate etc.
Yet this has been an issue on Minister’s desks at least since the ICJ two years ago advised on the illegality of occupation of Palestinian Territories.
The necessary legal architecture exists to ban trade with Crimea and could be applied in the West Bank, MPs argue.
Labour took a beating in local elections over Gaza. Not sure the urgency of that political message struck home.

This piece suggesting the UK may unblock arms export licences to Israel is let us say strange. Peter Kyle UK business secretary will surely know arms export licences were suspended for 2 reasons, Reason 1: Israel was not allowing ICRC access to Palestinian political prisoners. That remains true. Indeed Israel wants to make it easier to impose the death penalty on these prisoners. Reason 2. As an occupying power, Israel had a duty to supply aid for Gaza.
