You are shocked by how Trump treated Zelenskyy. But this is not new behavior to us. This is merely new to you because you are shocked to see a European treated in this way.
Africans, Asians, and Latin Americans are routinely treated like this. But - out of humility - they do not complain.
Yesterday, Rubio terminated 5800 USAID contracts – more than 90% of its foreign aid programs – in defiance of the courts.
Here’s a list of just some of the lifesaving awards that were terminated. Nearly all were Congressional mandated. They've saved millions of lives. 🧵
Excellent thread! Administrative bloat and an education system that is no longer “mission” driven but “market” driven along with the astronomical costs of UG education is to blame for the current state of #higher ed. It is on the verge of a major collapse.
What's wrong with American higher education? Are colleges corrupt? Greedy? Woke?
I worked for 12 years to earn my BA, MA, and PhD in History. I'm now a professor at one of the more conservative Christian colleges in America.
A 🧵 on what US colleges get wrong. 1/27
10/This is not an isolated case. There are overwhelming reports of VFS and their negligence on social media and it is time that @DrSJaishankar intervenes.
VFS woes while applying for a new OCI in @IndiainSeattle Consulate.
Rejected for minor reasons that could have been easily addressed. Needs serious intervention by @DrSJaishankar to address inefficiency.
Emailed Consulate General @IndiainSeattle and no reply. Applying again.
Indian Consulate @ Nebraska’s doorstep!
In partnership with India Association of Omaha, Hindu Temple Omaha and VFS Global, CGI Seattle hosted a Consular Camp in Omaha today.
Nearly 100 plus consular applications processed, and queries resolved on passport, OCI and visa related issues.
Thank all members of the Indian American community in Nebraska for their support.

9/I am applying for a 2nd time again today and hoping that the @IndiainSeattle Consulate will intervene, that VFS does their required job, does not continue to harass NRI Indians who are trying to get their OCI cards so that they can visit their homelands, invest, etc.
@IndiainSeattle Another harassing experience with VFS applying for a new OCI card in Seattle. Will be writing about this in details. This needs to stop and be addressed.

Gideon Levy responds to the ceasefire deal that ended 14 months of fighting between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon.
While there is much to be gained from reading Edward Said, I think it's very telling (about the class position of the majority of people in academia) that so much academic discussion the past year has revisited Said's work but less so Samir Amin's /1
“Unless we all work together to ensure accessibility & affordability to higher ed & to demand that higher ed do a better job in promoting civic engagement, we are complicit in undermining democracy.” – Irene Mulvey, immediate past president of the AAUP.

Public disappointment with universities has reached epidemic proportions. Christopher Newfield (@cnewf) suggests the answer lies in redefining #HigherEducation around intellectual and social benefits not monetary ones.

My white paper "Manufacturing Backlash" is now published with @AAUP. It offers a systematic analysis of the anti-CRT, anti-DEI, anti-tenure, and anti-accreditation legislation introduced during the 2021, 2022, 2023 legislative cycles. Check it out. https://t.co/yw7AegS9If
3/ “Under the plan I’m announcing today, we will take the billions and billions of dollars that we will collect by taxing, fining, and suing excessively large private university endowments, and we will then use that money to endow a new institution called the American Academy.”
2/ “This institution will gather an entire universe of the highest quality educational content, covering the full spectrum of human knowledge and skills, and make that material available to every American citizen online for free.”
