On June 7, I was scheduled to fly AA2710 with @AmericanAir.
That morning I received four delay notifications stating the flight was delayed due to maintenance. The flight was ultimately canceled and classified as weather-related.
For the past 12 days, I have emailed American Airlines and spoken with Customer Relations seeking a simple answer: What specific weather event or sequence of events caused this flight to be classified as weather-related after multiple maintenance delays?
Every response I receive states that, after review, the cancellation was correctly classified as weather-related. However, no one has been able to identify the actual weather event, where it occurred, or how it impacted Flight 2710.
I am not disputing the classification. I am simply asking for transparency regarding the events that led to that determination.
Who can provide this information?
@FAANews@USDOT
Has anyone else experienced this? If so, were you ever able to get a clear explanation?
Day 13.
Emailing @AmericanAir feels like:
Me: What weather event canceled my flight?
American: Thank you for contacting us. We can confirm that bananas are technically berries.
@MendessPls@AmericanAir Fair question. On day one I was frustrated about the hotel costs. At this point, I’m more frustrated that nobody can identify the specific event that caused the weather classification.

Really @AmericanAir I’ve been flying you exclusively for years and I’m not going to change due to status but I’ve been delayed going on 6 hours today due to “maintenance” and your idea to fix it is a fucking $12 meal voucher, AFTER I boarded the plane and was delayed again????
@ripper3jk@AmericanAir Meanwhile I’m 12 days into trying to get someone to identify the specific event that caused my flight to be classified as weather-related.
