I think that someone who is truly seeking God on His terms will be revealed the truth eventually. It starts by dying to yourself and realizing that you cannot figure it out on your own. Then, it comes to the question of what is the Church that Jesus started? Where is that church today? You go through the history, you pray a lot, and He will reveal Himself to you. But it might take years until you are fully ready to handle the truth. I balled my eyes out a few months ago when I realized the state of disunity among all the churches and how so many people are deceived by false churches. That is why I am making it my goal to return as many people as possible back to the Body of Christ.
So do you have to find the right church in this life to he saved? Technically no because God looks at each heart. But is there is normal intended path to salvation? Yes, and it is the visible Body of Christ.
I'll pray for you on your journey, man. Hope to see ya on the other side and give a big hug one day 😁
Then why does every self-denom all believe unique things about the law and nobody is in unity? Those verses are true, but within the visible Body of Christ. The idea that those verses eliminate the Church is ludicrious, especially given how history played out in the early Church. It also implies you don't need Scripture. Everything you need to know is written on your heart, right?
They wanted to rule on exactly what you're claiming is true and they were forced to rule against it by the Pope in favor of a dictatorship. Either way, at the end of the day, the Pope's opinion is all that mattered/matters. Screw the east that utterly rejected the filioque because the Pope said so, right? No respect for any of the other Patriarchs whatsoever, including Antioch which also is a Petrine see.
@TheBasedTrinity And that is the problem. You need to make it an option, otherwise you are shutting out a real possibility that you are missing out on the fullness of Christ in Orthodoxy.
@ChristandGuitar Believing Mary was sinless is a common Orthodox view, but it actually isn't dogmatic interestingly enough. Even the priests around my area don't think she was truly sinless, but rather just lived an extremely holy life.
